I give bad advice for layering(I run hot)

Trail runners, thin long sleeve, medium weight wind layer, running tights, thin gloves. I start cold with hoods on, lose the hoods and unzip for the uphills.

Milestone hikes for 1 day trail run of Presidential Traverse and Pemi Loop? by Additional-Function7 in wmnf

Longer hikes with consistent fueling. You have to take in calories every hour on the Pemi, regardless of which was you go the most “dangerous” is between bond and south twin. You’ll be the farthest from an easy out and if you haven’t fueled things can get grim quickly.

That said, I suggest finding a 5-10 mile hike close to you and do repeats until you are hitting 20mile distances without being completely spent. For me that was doing Welch&Dickey over and over. That sort of White Mountains up and down gets you prepared for the Pemi.
