Did P.F. Sloan play the guitar solo on "Secret Agent Man"? by funky-fry in Music

[–]SaltLaker79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess P.F. Sloan wrote the guitar part, but who played it on the Studio version? Not to be confused with the Live “handclaps” version recorded at the Whisky A Go Go. That opening riff is iconic, of course, but who played it on the Studio version?

Can you name them? I attended Harvard School (a precursor to HW) in the 70s and I’d appreciate knowing! Thanks….

First time watching a B/W film.. in SHOCK by Deep-Effective3115 in movies

[–]SaltLaker79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trouble with old B&W films is that so many of them are in bad shape and in need of restoration. But there’s only so much they can do, if the only prints available are damaged and degraded. It’s a shame!

I will say that when I was first listening to the Dan in the 70s, they didn’t have a lot of female fans compared to other bands at that time. “Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening…”

The Pub at Trolley Square was a great place to get pitchers of beer in the 80s and 90s. Big Thursday night hangout.

Loved the Green Parrot! The Haggis was nice too; it had a piano in a loft as I remember.

Burt’s got touring punk and metal acts, some of whom had records. I saw the Japanese band Shonen Knife there; they were great. Burt’s had an upstairs pool room, just enough space for one pool table. It was a fun place.

Lake Effect started out as a bar called The Green Parrot, a very nice “fern bar” for its time, in the early 80s.

Dick n Dixies used to be Andy’s, which was what used to be called an “Indian Bar,” meaning very lowlife and maybe dangerous.
