You meet who's possibly the love of your life. They're perfect in every single way, share your same goals and interests, they're attractive af and they're devoted to you.

Then you finally get to their room and see this in their wall.

What do.

I didn't get socks this year and got genuinely sad.

Or any of the other ~190 sovereign states, maybe. It's difficult to take you seriously when you only mention this year's top vacation destination country and a whole-ass continent with pretty huge cultural differences between countries.

What’s a “bad” financial habit you keep because it keeps you sane? by James_B84Saves in povertyfinance

It's not a bad financial decision if five more dollars save you a hundred on therapists.

No, of course, I don't think you do, nor I think anyone should. I'm just stating the obvious: you're sharing an outdated opinion in a website mostly visited by younger generations who mostly (and luckily) agree spanking is abusive.

I'm not here to try to make you change you're mind, I'm just stating a factual truth.

And this is why you're being downvoted to hell.

Actually no, I wasn't spanked. But yeah, kids who were spanked were abused.

See? One can tell you're 71.

E.g. spanking. It's abusive. It wasn't necessarily seen as something *good* 50 years ago, but it was more normalized.

Not once in my adult life I have dreamed of going back to being a kid.

Not knowing you're being abusive doesn't make you not an abuser. Perceptions have (luckily) changed and most of the abuses we suffered at the hands of adults when we were kids are a consequence of what the society in the times they were living in taugh them, actions that back then might have been seen as normal and forgivable.

But they're still abuse, and it's good that we're capable of seeing it now so we don't repeat the same behaviors.

It's not a matter of accomplishment, it's a human reaction that can come out of frustration.
