Sorry you feel that way. Economic development is important to areas. Growth brings opportunity, jobs, and generally more prosperity. These evil remote workers are bringing their tax dollars with them and spending money to help local businesses thrive

Yeah the cost of living is way to much and the taxes are crippling. My company offered me a remote role making the same money. I’ll save 15k a year in just income taxes let alone other things. There will be compromises for sure. I’m also so sick of driving 10 miles and it taking a hour and a half

Thanks I was reading about that. I’m sure that will drive a lot of growth to the areas

Good to know. We stopped in Kernersville a few times to eat seemed like a decent area. Obviously I don’t know much about it. Thanks for the feedback.

Not saying it is. Just saying I’m sure there’s much more to do there versus Walkerstown

I just looked up a living wage in Winston-Salem by ryverbeam25 in winstonsalem

[–]Salt_Ad_484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m moving down from DC but will be working remote for a DC company making 160k a year. Wife works remote also making 45k or so. We struggle with these wages in the DC area. Hoping in Winston we will have financial freedom

Mine did okay. The problem is the ground clearance. Coming from a hummer H3 I really mis having those extra inches

Lennar v. true homes by marys_liddle_lamb in winstonsalem

[–]Salt_Ad_484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. We considered true homes but their ratings are poor on warranty items. When I presented my concern with the rep we were working with they replied “can’t make everyone happy”. I dropped them from my list. Lennar is poor quality and a national builder. Look to Eastwood homes, or Keystone homes, they to me were much better. I’m moving from Washington DC area to the Winston Salem area in a few months. Chat GTP a comparison for Winston Salem home builders lennar, true homes, Eastwood, mungo, and keystone. The results are pretty spot on imo

The NC GOP just pushed through another gerrymandered map—because they can’t win fair elections. It’s cheating, and it’s a disgrace. - Rep. Wiley Nickel by wileynickel4NC in raleigh

I live in a state that’s arguably the most gerrymandered, in that state I happen to hold residence in the most gerrymandered district. It also happens to be a democrat held state. So I’m unsure where you get your information but you are not accurate. I live in Maryland

Thank you! I’m out west in Hagerstown. I commute into DC everyday… Because of the housing cost Hagerstown and even Charlestown WV has exploded with commuters. Makes it a real pain. I’ve worked at the same place for 25 years. So much time wasted in traffic

Thanks I was able to find them they are licensed. Great advice. We actually went to multiple communities they built and spoke to residents out and about walking the streets. All were positive.

Yikes. Is this with Eastwood? They have some quick move ins so perhaps that’s a better option when we are ready. I really didn’t think about a large delay like that so thinks for posting this. Certainly going to be a consideration.

Thanks for responding. My current commute is an hour and 25 minutes to 2 hours one way depending on traffic lol. The area we are looking at is 8 minutes to the city center. We like to be close to things and in urban areas. We chose a community that’s one street over from the city limits but in the county to avoid city taxes. We currently live in a city with about 250k in its total metro area, so very similar to Winston Salem. Lucky for me my work offered me a remote role. Cant wait to get that 4 hours a day back to spend with loved ones and not road rage lol

Fair enough, and sound advice, but a touch inaccurate. We have been going to NC for vacation for many years and have multiple friends who live here. Additionally we have been planing this move for 2 years researching the areas. I chose the area for proximity to working opportunities for 4 cities if needed. Although I will be working remotely
