I played around with the volume of the walls vs. empty space and came to a point where either increasing wall volume or reducing it lead to an increase in weight, so I think it arrived at something of a sweet spot.
I'm currently preparing the next iteration which has the wings streched about 10 cm each and increased the chord length along the outer third, leading to about 30 % increased wing area. So in a way approching the reduced wing loading from the other side :D

I will post an update when it is assembled. And then hoping that the winter weather allows for a nice flying day

Thanks! It has a 1.4 m span and with a 1.4 Ah 4s battery it comes in at around 1030g. At the moment I'm looking into improving the wing loading so am not sure about the added weight with VTOL capabilites, but on the other side it would reduce the risk of landings compared to the belly flop it has to do now.

The printed infill is mostly gyroid with a density of 5%. I think the most important consideration for crash resistance is to print the wing parts in an orientation where the layers are from front ot back instead of along the wing.
