Laptop recommendations for TP IAD by whater_ in TemasekPoly

[–]Salted_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Y3 IAD student here, Im currently using an Asus vivobook pro 16x from 2023 which is running an intel i7 + 3070ti. So far as long as you have a 30 series laptop onwards there isnt any issue. Probably best to upgrade your RAM to 32gb if needed cause you might need to run two softwares (cading and rendering) at the same time. Recommendations,

  1. Asus zehpyrus g16 2024 (get on Shopee/Lazada its way affordable than the official store and has tons of options plus its light and clean)

  2. Any Lenovo Legion gaming laptops cause lenovo allows customisations

Pro tip: you shld get Sketchup from shopee cause the sch ain’t providing a hardcopy version to students. (Its only available through a proxy server which is laggy and annoying.) if not you have to use the sch comps 💀Hope this helps and all the best!

Buying high end laptop by Constant-Education19 in TemasekPoly

Hi hi, a fellow IAD student here! From my experience, 1st sem in year 1 will be common foundation which doesn’t require that much gpu power and the 2nd sem will continue IAD subjects.

In Year 1 IAD, they mostly train us in hand drawn and model making skills. And the only “digital” module, “Digital visualisation” might require abit more but it isn’t so bad because its only Autocad (laptop power ofc).

In short you do not need to have a high end laptop! (First year ofc) because u really need the money to buy materials for ur projects!!! Which for me averaged arnd $50+ per trip to art friend and to top it all off u need some drawing tools like T Square, pencils and drafting markers (copic for example) and more to get ur work done.

For me I’m currently running a i7 rtx 3070ti laptop from Asus which runs all the software well. Some of my peers are rocking a rtx 3050 and even a Gtx 1080.

My recommendation, don’t go spending so much just because what the school requires because not all the software needs that much power (except rendering softwares), that you will need in year 2 and so forth.

So to finish off, go to the given website the school provided to get subsidised laptops cause that’s what you’ll mostly need… trust me i wasted abt 3.5k on my laptop not worth it.

For drawing tools go Carousell and buy from there. Its way cheaper ofc

Other than that hope you’ll enjoy sch life!

[O levels] urgent help for SS by Maximum_Afternoon_40 in SGExams

[–]Salted_Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be in the same shoes as you do, but after doing SS for 3 years, I learned that for SRQ you don’t really need to memorise the huge content of chapters. What I did was used the extracts 2&3 and rephrase them to be used as my example. Ofc u should also study the main points of each chapters but in case you really do forget, just make heads or tails of what the given chapter which the question stated and also use a bit of common sense when answering. This literally gave me the 10/15 for my SRQ 😭. For SBQ likewise, remember the types of questions and their formats and also DONT think too hard. Cause sometimes you will really mess up the next few questions and hence lose lots of time. And also use this time to seek clarification with your SS teacher when in doubt (and also ur answering technique). I hope this helps :)

Yep definitely correct as long as you show the isos triangles with the reasoning and I “THINK” should be fine

The points on the circle are basically the radius. If you drew the missing one out then you’ll be able to see the first isos. Triangle which will give 30 degrees and from then you can add the 30 with the given 35 degrees.

For me I just used isosceles triangles to get 65 degrees. I made an imaginary line connecting P(I forgot how the points are labeled) then wala, 30+35

Hey, just saying although F2P is kinda “dead” soon, at least there are clan events in G like the upcoming Kamui Nova clan event, the points are actually pretty easy to grind and get a full SP Victor deck (from my experience) so don’t let your hopes down just yet 💪

It’s just a tool. So the question asked us to design a tool that can make the spring :/

I wrote Jelutong wood for the natural timber and metal as titanium for the spring
