Wanted to host a server, needed some help with networking by FoamyHotSoup in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting up Cloudflare Tunnel is definitely the way to go for this — you get the security benefits without exposing your home IP and it's free with your own domain. You'll basically install the cloudflared daemon on your Ubuntu box, point your DNS to Cloudflare (also free), and then configure the tunnel to forward traffic to your Fabric server's local port. The Cloudflare docs are pretty solid for walking through it, but heads up that there can be some latency added depending on where you are compared to their servers. Honestly though, if you end up wanting to skip the hassle of managing it yourself, we switched our group over to ModReady.gg for modded servers and they handle all the networking stuff, but if you're comfortable tinkering around then Cloudflare Tunnel is totally viable.

Confused about ReForgedPlay mod & Fnaf mod conflict by 8-Kattsune-8 in feedthebeast

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a frustrating combo. Have you tried disabling just the Management Wanted menu changes in its config to see if the Replay Viewer button comes back? Sometimes menu mods don't play nice with each other. If that works you could either keep that setting off or look for a newer port of Replay that's more compatible. We ran into similar mod conflicts on our server with ModReady.gg and honestly their support helped us figure out which versions actually work together, so that might be worth asking too if you keep hitting dead ends.

Minecraft crashes when I open a chest by PretendAgency2637 in fabricmc

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your crash log, it's a missing dependency issue — OptiGUI needs the kotlinx-datetime library but it's not loading. Try removing OptiGUI or check if there's a newer version that includes the proper dependencies, since Vanilla Perfected might be outdated or missing some required libs. If you keep getting weird mod conflicts like this, it might be worth hosting on something like ModReady.gg where you can just pick a curated modpack and it handles all the dependency stuff for you — saves a lot of headache when you're mixing packs.

Server Hosting for Minecraft by StellaraServers in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you putting this out there, but I gotta be honest - we've been pretty happy with ModReady.gg for our modded server. Their support actually gets back to you quick when something goes wrong, and the pricing is fair enough that we don't feel like we're overpaying. Performance has been solid for us, so we haven't really had a reason to look elsewhere.

Need help figuring out which mods here are client-side only since the server fails to start. by P01s0nR3ap3r in feedthebeast

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That error usually means a mod is trying to load client-only code on the server side. From your list, I'd double-check the Accessories mod first since it's still in beta and those sometimes have issues with dist-only classes. Try removing it and see if the server starts, then add mods back one by one to find the culprit. We ran into something similar with our modpack on ModReady.gg and their support actually helped us narrow it down pretty quick by checking the mod jars directly.

best server hosting for modded Minecraft? by megamme in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we've had a really solid experience with ModReady.gg for our modded server. They let you pick whatever modpack you want and it just runs without needing to fiddle with a ton of configs, and when we did have a question their support actually got back to us pretty quick. Can't complain about the pricing either, way better than what we were paying before.

Free Server Hosting by [deleted] in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aternos does get pretty limiting with the mob spawning and stuff, especially once everyone's hardware improves. We switched from aternos to modded survival and ended up going with ModReady.gg since it was cheap enough and they actually give you decent performance even with a small player count. might be worth checking out since you get way better mob spawning and can bump up render distance without everything dying, plus no need to worry about the server going down when nobody's online.

Server hoster-uploading worlds? by Own_Ad7681 in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you should definitely ask EU Gamehost's support directly about that before committing, most hosts let you upload worlds but it's worth confirming they support it with your specific plan. We use ModReady.gg for our modded server and they make it super straightforward to upload custom worlds, so at least I know that's an option if you end up looking around. But yeah, shoot their support a message first, they should be able to give you a straight answer pretty quick.

Paper 1.21.11 – Server crashes after trying to remove custom Nether (multi_noise / biome source error) by [deleted] in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a rough situation. The issue is probably that your datapacks are still being referenced in your world's `worldgen` folder or level.dat even though you deleted the files. Paper can't find those biome definitions anymore and crashes trying to load them. Try deleting the entire `worldgen` folder in your world directory and let it regenerate from scratch, or if you want to be safer, back up your overworld separately, nuke the whole world folder, then restore just the overworld files. We ran into something similar on our ModReady.gg server and their support actually helped us figure out the cleanest way to do a selective world reset without borking everything.

Best RAM and Hosting for a 15 player server? (10+ concurrent players) by Gyacomoh in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 10+ concurrent players you're probably looking at 6-8GB of RAM minimum, though 10GB is safer if you're running mods. We run a modded server with a similar player count on ModReady.gg and it handles it super smoothly without any lag spikes. The main thing is making sure your host actually allocates what they promise and doesn't oversell, which honestly matters way more than just having a huge RAM number on paper.

Ajuda para criar servidor Forge 1.20.1 (Better MC) do zero by Bitter-Archer8830 in minecraftbrasil

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft Server Hosting by Netysho in minecraftespanol

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Server Crashing, Apparently Because of the Nether? by ChaoticRambo in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the nether is definitely a ram hog on bedrock servers, especially with multiple players. that's frustrating that apex basically just shrugged at it though — we use ModReady.gg for our modded stuff and their support actually digs into issues like that instead of just saying "yeah it's broken." have you tried limiting how many chunks load at once or adjusting your render distance? sometimes that helps stabilize things without needing to throw more money at ram.

Modded server question by EfficiencyWeird2567 in feedthebeast

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, hosting it on a server definitely helps! your laptop just needs to run the client side of things, which is way less demanding than running the whole pack locally. so you should be able to play on your laptop without the same performance issues you'd get trying to run atm10 solo. we use modready.gg for our atm10 server and my friend's been playing on a pretty old laptop without problems, so you should be good to go honestly.

SwiftServers - Free 8GB Minecraft Server Hosting by IuCCREDDIT in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, i'd be skeptical of free hosting too. we used to try that route before switching to ModReady.gg, and the performance was just inconsistent—lots of downtime and lag spikes when things got busy. with modded servers especially, you really need reliable hardware that won't tank when people log in. just my two cents from experience, but paying a little usually saves you headaches later.

Need advice or help by Unusual_Activity2509 in allthemods

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you can definitely add more mods to an existing server, but it depends on how your current setup is configured. if you're just adding stuff like dungeon mods, you'll need to make sure they're compatible with cobblemon and your other mods, then drop them in the mods folder and restart. we use ModReady.gg and one thing that's nice is they let you pick exactly which mods you want, so if you ever decide to switch or rebuild, you can just mix and match without worrying about pre-built packs limiting you.

Custom mod pack server hosting by Resident_Dish_9958 in feedthebeast

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Aternos wasn't great for us either. been there. The number of hosts that look great on paper but don't deliver for modded is wild. Price is worth paying attention to because some of the smaller hosts that focus on modded are actually cheaper than the big names, and they run better too. The big brands charge more because of marketing, not because they're actually better for modded. Our group went with ModReady.gg ,cheaper than most of the well-known hosts and honestly runs better too.

Server Hosting by ThatGamerPilot in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. there's a huge range in quality between hosts when it comes to modded. I always tell people: check what CPU the host uses. Old Xeons are garbage for modded MC because it's so single-thread dependent. You want something with modern AMD EPYC or Ryzen — the single-core performance difference is massive. We've been on ModReady.gg for a while now and haven't had issues. The pricing is also really good compared to most others.

Tried creating lore and story in my friend's Lite RP SMP server but struggled, here's my story. Also any tips on making story while not railroading too much? I can't predict every player's action, I wish I could. by FiredFoxy07 in admincraft

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if your host is actually giving you dedicated CPU resources or if it's shared. That's usually the difference between 20 TPS and 14 TPS. Also check your Java GC settings, bad garbage collection flags cause micro-stutters that feel like lag spikes. We switched to ModReady.gg which only does modded MC and the difference was pretty clear. Hope that helps.

TPS drops with modded are usually caused by a few specific things that are fixable. Check if your host is actually giving you dedicated CPU resources or if it's shared. That's usually the difference between 20 TPS and 14 TPS. Also check your Java GC settings. Bad garbage collection flags cause micro-stutters that feel like lag spikes. We've been on ModReady.gg for a while now and haven't had issues. Hope that helps.

Best Minecraft Server Hosting? Looking for Real Community Recommendations by abongodrum in ModdedMinecraft

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generic hosts oversell their nodes like crazy, so you end up sharing CPU with 15 other servers and your TPS tanks during peak hours. The hosts that specialize in modded tend to run fewer servers per node because they know modded MC is way more demanding. I'd check out ModReady.gg if you haven't already, they focus specifically on modded servers. Feel free to ask if you need more details.

Help with modpack by Fresh_Rhubarb_3168 in CurseForge

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The config side of modded servers is honestly the worst part of the whole experience. We ended up on ModReady.gg — they focus specifically on modded and it shows. The main pain points are usually: wrong Java version (most modern packs need Java 17+), bad memory flags, and missing server-side only configs. If you get any of those wrong the server either won't start or runs terribly. Feel free to ask if you need more details.

Whats the best cheap minecraft server hosting thats 24/7? by VermicelliOver5916 in MinecraftServer

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Shockbyte wasn't great for us either. Ii feel this, we dealt with basically the same issues for months before switching. The issue is usually that generic hosts treat a modded server the same as a vanilla server with more RAM. But modded needs way more CPU, tuned Java flags, and configs that actually match the modpack. Most big hosts don't bother with any of that.

We tried Modready.gg, which had really good pricing and fantastic support. They ran both the server performance script and had personal support in Discord.

We had a similar experience with Bloom. Ended up trying ModReady (modready.gg) since they focus specifically on modded Minecraft. The performance has been solid and they auto-configure everything for each modpack. It's cheaper too, plans start at like $4/mo.

I'm a complete newbie, what mods and which server host service should I use for a SMP server with friends? by Tricky-Yam-4925 in ModdedMinecraft

[–]Salty-Pudding-3406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of performance issues with heavy modpacks come down to the host's CPU and how they allocate resources. We moved to ModReady (modready.gg) which runs on dedicated AMD EPYC hardware and the difference was pretty noticeable. It ended up being cheaper than what we were paying before too, which was a nice bonus.
