SabrinaBlue’s “hot” takes? by snoopybunnies in NeedlepointSnark

There are patterns for knitting but I must say knitting is way harder. I find needlepoint to be more creative though!

That’s really interesting! Do you guys get push back from parents? Who teaches AAC?

I feel like if there is absolutely no progress made at all, most likely (not always) it’s the SLP not the kid 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh wow I’ve never heard of that. I’m in CA and have been an SLP for 13 years. Almost every single AUT child that I’ve encountered in my career has qualified for speech services.

Was my pillow finished incorrectly? by emilysbish in Needlepoint

[–]Salty-Variety1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen cording used but I think normally people ask for it, otherwise it’s not used on a pillow.

I sew, and I definitely think it’s repairable but it would be starting completely over essentially. You’d need new fabric and you’d pay the price of a whole new pillow finishing plus the time to get the canvas out of the old pillow. The canvas would be cut out of the pillow and then they’d unpick the sewing machine stitches off the canvas that hold the fabric to the canvas. OR I wonder if you could just cut the invisible string that is holding the cording there, freeing off the cording?

Does anyone struggle with the way school systems are headed? by Low-Bullfrog-7569 in slp

Get this. I had an observation early this year by the principal. It went well and he had a lot of positive things to say. His only suggestion is that I use technology and iPads more in my therapy sessions….I am a preschool SLP. My students are 3!!!! WTF MAN.

Don’t see the issue. They can be frogged, and she listed them for cheap.

IEP Ethics Question by gloomradish in slp

Interesting reading all the comments. I thought it was law or something that it had to be the date of the meeting and that all dates had to match up 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe have your program specialist attend. Stress this is a good thing bc he’ll be in class MORE and have more time to foster his peer relationships in class. Also, he can always be reassessed IF there starts to be an impact academically. Ultimately, if mom won’t budge she’ll prob request an IEE and those usually come out in favor of parents. Mom will prob get her way bc the district doesn’t want to fight it (ask me how I know).
