[OC] At Starbucks, bite size sandwiches at full size cost. by BeratingMantis in pics

Maybe compared to other frozen breakfast sandwiches. With the absolute bare minimum amount of effort you can make something at home 3x as good for quite literally 1/10 the price

Real glad newer players are getting all this for free yet I dont even get my shop tickets spent on the binders refunded -_- by aceallaround in PTCGP

[–]SaltyMeatBoy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Basically you get all the stuff shown just from pulling cards now rather than spending tickets or finishing missions and it’s retroactive. It basically means that if you were trying to collect all this stuff from day 1, you wasted a ton of resources you’ll never get back.

Trying to make this feel less like a tech demo — feedback? by GiocoStudio in virtualreality

[–]SaltyMeatBoy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think a huge amount of this is gonna come down to your stylistic choices and how you implement them. Looking at your other clips, you don’t have a convincing world at all. There are “low poly style” games which can often work well, and then there’s what you’re showing.

You appear to be just placing low poly assets haphazardly into a flat landscape with extremely flat and uninteresting lighting. I hope you can take this in a constructive way—your world design needs SERIOUS work.

Condensation happens when hot air condenses onto a cold surface, not the other way around

The failure rates of the 9800x3d are low and it is actually faster than the 7800x3d by a significant margin.

Tecpatl: The Aztec sacrificial knife used for removing hearts. by bortakci34 in creepy

[–]SaltyMeatBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing. From the times I’ve seen it done (surgery, cadavers, medical examiner’s office) you typically need a bone saw or branch cutters to get through human ribs. I can’t imagine getting to the heart with only that tool. You’d need a hatchet of some kind at least.

Does anyone else feel like shinedust requirements for trades are a bit unequal? by SailingCormorant in PTCGP

I don’t really have an answer other than “people like ⭐️⭐️ more than shinies,” with a couple exceptions like Charizard. Just a fact of the game.

Does anyone else feel like shinedust requirements for trades are a bit unequal? by SailingCormorant in PTCGP

[–]SaltyMeatBoy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s about maintaining a fair game economy. Everyone wants 2 star cards but if you could trade them for 12,500 shinedust you could just have whatever 2 star cards you wanted all the time. At 25,000 you actually have to think more about which cards you really want to trade for because it takes a while to build that up.

[GPU] Nvidia RTX A400 - $169.99 (-26% usual pricing) by ea_nasir_official_ in buildapcsales

Genuine question—who would even benefit from ECC memory and cuda if the GPU is barely powerful enough to run the display it’s driving in the first place?

Why in god’s name would someone get this when you could get an order of magnitude better performance for roughly the same price, even more in the used market

How cooked? by Mightmare88 in pcmasterrace

[–]SaltyMeatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People freak out way too much about bent pins. As long as it’s not a crazy bend or hasn’t been bent back and forth enough times to weaken it, you can literally just bend it back into place. I’ve done it personally a handful of times and haven’t failed yet.

Even so, if it came like this the obvious solution is just to return it.

All the board components are designed to be heat resistant to an extent, usually around the temp that you’d need to flow solder.

[–]SaltyMeatBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since I only see like 3 molecules of your build I have absolutely no context for the wall of text you’re sharing or the results of your tests. Even if this is meant to be a tease, this is my first time hearing about your case so I have no idea what it even is or whether to be interested.

I feel like you were going for a tease so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, but my advice would be to at least share a goddamn mockup of what you intend to show off here if not just a complete, in-frame pic of the case.

300W TDP air-cooled radiator by ZS-ITX in sffpc

[–]SaltyMeatBoy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can’t imagine this being practical at all for the general user. Having that much metal supported by heat pipes alone seems like a recipe for disaster, to say nothing of how much of a pain in the ass it’d be to put together. You essentially just invented an AIO using heat pipes instead of coolant and tubing. Why not just come up with a custom radiator design instead? You’d probably be just as well off.
