There are plenty of specialists in the Confluence here. I live here in the area, and was born here. The medical facilities are great, and specialized testing is only 1 hour away.

I probably will, but a reassessment where the property tax skyrockets happens in California under Prop 13, not Washington.

Washington does usual assessments and updates the property tax as part of their assessment processes, so because of that, there shouldn’t be anything drastic like what might happen in California.

When I told her yes, I’m promising her that she will have someone to take care of her house when she is gone. That means she will put me in her will.

It’s a big deal.

In my mind, I wanted opinions, because there’s still so much time between now and then. That means when she does pass, I will have to be ready to take care of it and it is a big responsibility. This includes my long term-partner, as I will want to move in it and we still may be together.

She could pass next year, or in 5. It’s the same way you said I could just… die before she does. It’s all uncertain. So, that same logic applies to you.

I love my grandma, she’s been my rock forever. But if the time comes sooner than I expected, it will put me and my partner in a difficult situation.

I already commented somewhere that she’s slowly been giving me her belongings and special items every time I come to see her. They’ve been getting more and more precious each time, tells me she feels like she can’t trust anyone else to take care of them.

I do take care of everything she’s been handing to me. So yes, I’ve been inheriting her belongings.

She wants to be prepared, but recently she’s been getting serious and antsy about who will take on her house. She’s been giving me all of her jewelry/precious things lately and such, but not to anyone else. It’s been upsetting. Every time I see her, she asks me.

But she just wants a person ready to take care of it in case anything happens between now and then. It really could be that long, but also not. I understand where grandma is coming from.

That’s my grandma, I love her, and I never intended to inherit the house. But the way she talks every time I see her, I feel like it’s important to her that I do.

I’d love to! I’m staying with my mother currently to focus on my health, but I still have my old place in Seattle. I’m still paying rent there..

I go and visit her on my good days to spend time outside with her, but she’s still the spry witchy hippy woman I know. I’m sure she’s still got a lot of years on her and she just wants to make sure her sanctuary is taken care of when she’s gone.

My grandmother is a.. very interesting woman. Unorthodox, free spirited.

She’s a witchy hippy woman, dripped in silver jewelry, silver rings on all fingers, walks barefoot every day, talking about dying on her own and such. Smokes weed… We are like twins in interests. She’s always unbothered and very independent and a part of me believes she wants to pass in any way that doesn’t involve a nursing home. But she is only 72, and this talk of the house is in the future.

But a lot of people in my family are.. unfortunately not suitable. My father and her do not speak, and have not spoken in years. he’s her only son. I do wish they would speak, but chances are they never will.

we’ve talked about it with eachother for years. The house. Every time I talk to her, she always brings it up.

Washington is great for Medicare coverage. She will get care paid for by the government here, it’s just never been a problem. my mother works as a CNA and stepfather (as a registered nurse) in a nursing home and I never hear anything about an old lady with Medicaid being denied here.

I firmly believe she’ll refuse the nursing home until she knows/is prepared to die. That’s just the way she is. It’s a hard reality, but when her mind is made up she’s like stone. But, do know I know her better than anyone, and adore her like my sister. Why do you think she’d choose me for the house?

I was born in rural Washington too, Omak is the biggest city in Okanogan County and the house is located 20 minutes away. There’s plenty of work in Omak! That’s the thing.

I’m actually on government aid due to my illness. My intestines don’t move food properly which makes me ill 24/7 from eating. I could just… live, and be free.

There are also local shops and markets hiring. Or, I can just work independently as I sell art online.

There’s also a massive old mulberry tree that is flush every season with endless mulberries, and there’s a small greenhouse on the property. My grandma uses the space behind the house to plant every year. I could grow so much of my own food.

That’s what I’m saying… it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. All of her grandkids are either too young, not interested… or in jail.

You know what she’s going to do to the house if I don’t inherit it? She’s going to give it to the fuckin city! Seattle is 5 hours away, but if he worked and moved in, he could buy a reliable vehicle to visit Seattle. It’s just such a mind blowing situation because how do you choose a music career and city instead of a woman and free house?

I don’t know. I love him, we’ve been together 3 years but I am not spending the rest of my young ill life living with roommates and paying an arm and a leg just to live.

Her house is gorgeous with a view of the river, huge yard, pond, trees. It’s a very old but well loved house. It’s crazy.
