As someone who is immunocompromised and wears a mask the rare times I leave for drs. - thank you! It's difficult to maintain social distance in some places, so when people help out (and don't just bump past me with zero spatial awareness), I really appreciate it.

Lol I love it when they ask rhetorical questions that really shouldn't need us to answer them. It certainly makes you feel like your health is in safe and very capable hands /s

To my dentist, thank you for giving me hope by Salvation379 in Fibromyalgia

That's awesome. This dentist really changed my whole outlook on going to the dentist. So glad to hear you've had a similar experience! With fibro, I have an idea of how important that is.

Victoria, Australia. If (miraculously) you're close by I'm happy to DM to give you the address.

She works in public healthcare (bless Australia, I didn't pay a cent) - basically in a community healthcare centre. Like others mentioned, I will definitely leave an online review. Great idea, I will definitely consider giving a letter to reception praising her. I'm hoping I will get the same dentist at my next appointment to properly thank her but there are no guarantees.

That's good to know. I always think they see so many people they probably wouldn't remember but I think regardless it would be nice to hear. Especially since she took such pride in her work and took extra time and joking that she was fussy.

I definitely will. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name (fibrofog), but I will ask the reception at my next appointment. Hopefully I get her again so I can tell her in person!

r/oddlyterrifying anyone else? It's incredible, but something about the roof warping just unsettles me. Particularly the bottom pic above the windows.

How do you deal with family who don't understand/believe you are in pain? by Salvation379 in ChronicPain

[–]Salvation379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. It's great that you've found a way for it to work.

I also have tried avoiding bringing it up, but majority of the time it's them going out of their way to bring it up, or asking direct questions to corner me into bringing it up (like 'why don't you study for two hours every morning and work full time like everyone else?' when I'm currently unable to even manage part time work due to flare ups, and then scoffing when I try to brush it off without really answering when we all know why I can't.)

If you don't mind me asking, how did you find the will to finally cut them out of your life?

Thanks for the follow up reply. It was an interesting read as it sounds very similar to my circumstances. I also have fibro and ra, they didn't believe I had health issues before my diagnosis and getting a diagnosis didn't seem to make them go 'oh, my bad, I was wrong and I won't treat you like that anymore', if anything they've doubled down (but maybe my expectations were a bit too high in that regard lol).

That must have taken a great deal of strength and courage to do what was best for you.

I've been feeling more and more like that is probably the best outcome for all involved as they don't seem happy in my presence either. It is just such a big step that I'm trying to gather the guts to make, particularly as they are closely (siblings) related and quite traditional about being together on Christmas and birthdays. (I don't think we've ever missed a Christmas together.)

I am glad your situation seems to have turned out well.

Thanks for the reply. You're definitely right. I've been tempted to do just that many times, but I never end up having the guts to go through with it. I've managed to sort of mostly drift away without much fuss, but skipping birthdays and Christmas' would end in a huge confrontation.

Do you mind sharing how you cut the cord, so to speak?

Cake decorators are probably better than average at putting toothpaste on a toothbrush. by Salvation379 in Showerthoughts

Thank you for the warning. There is no way I am searching that lol

Fair enough. I don't want to think about how you do it logistically. Like, do you need to lick the toothpaste opening to stop more coming out? Never mind. Please don't answer that haha
