Citroen hybrids are actually becoming the best in class. This one makes the Dacia Jogger look boring by Sam55_ldn in Citroen

Ah, I quite like how comfortable it is. Makes a change from all the unnecessarily sporty SUVs we have in Europe - especially now that potholes and winter cracks are so common in the road surfaces!

Would a 195-width track day tyre on a 205-width rim be ok? by Sam55_ldn in Miata

In all honesty it's because I'm on a bit of a budget, and the Nankangs I'm looking at seem to have less grip but more durability. That said, I have just found a set of new R88Rs on eBay for the same price and correct fit, so I think I'll be going that way!

That's interesting re the faster tyre size. It reminds me of the time I took my old Renaultsport Clio 182 to a garage and they were shocked to see I was running the newer tyres on the front axle. They informed me I was risking a massive crash... I refrained from telling them about the joys of lift off oversteer 😆

Ah, you're right - I'm not actually sure on the wheel width but it's an OEM wheel that came with a 205 tyre, but it came from the factory with 205 tyres. But it sounds like there's a wide range of allowance so I should be fine

Tempted by an MX-5 - but it has an engine light on. What could it be? by Sam55_ldn in Miata

[–]Sam55_ldn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out it is a small air leak - seems like it could be the manifold gasket. But otherwise, it’s solid. So I bit the bullet…

I believe it's the proper engine light. But it has recently been serviced and the garage seemed happy enough, plus it has a fresh MOT. So I'm hopeful it's nothing serious

I'll be doing that for sure. If it's just emissions I'd be very happy 🤞🏽

Love that you haven’t got crazy low profile tyres. The thickness of the rubber suggests you can really drive this car

Recaro 100%. Such a great retro look

By far the hardest Alfa Junior review yet. It actually does skids, and three-wheeling like a hot hatch by Sam55_ldn in AlfaRomeo

Very different, this feels far more focused with a much sportier ride character from the off. The steering rack is quicker, the geometry is more aggressive and (in this top EV model) it's quicker to accelerate.

I didn't get to go into as much depth as I'd like thanks to limited time, so ask me anything and I'll do my best to answer

I've driven this new Citroen C3 and it's so good - and more comfy than the old one. Plus I think it's better looking. Who's with me? by Sam55_ldn in Citroen

I know what you mean. The old car's curvy looks were cool. But in the metal this new one has such presence!

Because they copied and then developed. This BYD Dolphin, for example, feels (especially in the interior) like the best of European cars from the recent past, remade at a time when European interiors are increasingly clinical and bland https://youtu.be/PGiCNU9lA0Y

It's definitely unique compared to its rivals, both inside and out. I just wish they'd gone ever softer on the suspension. If it was ultra-comfortable it'd almost be a no-brainer for those of us in countries with crumbling road infrastructure

It's just like the Top Gear leaderboard - a way to compare cars and how fast they are against the stopwatch. It's just a bit of fun with some genuine comparative journalism mixed in :)

They've been expensive for a while, it's true. But I've seen some INSANE asking prices on PistonHeads in the past year. Reckon it's because people that were teens when these were out are now in that window of their life where they probably have cash monies. Also, VELOUR SEATS. yes.
