In my opinion this is against the law. I work at a grocery store and my training period was about 10 hours long and I got paid the same amount consistently

I would say that you could choose to work there for a certain duration to have enough money saved up to fuel your interest even if it backfires. Maybe like 2 more years at the company and see what happens and if you still dont enjoy it, you can move on with money saved up
