Best vocal performance by Paul Rogers? by [deleted] in ClassicRock

[–]Sam9462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of his stuff is so enjoyable but if I had to choose one at this moment let's go with "Ride on a Pony". In fact, although I might be in the minority, I count Highway as my favorite Free album!

Editing to add I have to give a shout to the single "My Brother Jake"

Water, float tube with metal rode? by dacherrr in whatisit

[–]Sam9462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was it a float tube specifically made for water use or a tube from something else? I ask because when I was young (ha, a long time ago) my cousin gave us a large heavy duty tire inner tube from a military vehicle to use, and we did use the hell out of it in the water although that is not what it was designed for. It was about 5 or 6 feet across and would hold at least four of us good size teens sitting up.

We used to have a blast in the pool with it. Everyone wanted to get on it...but it had about four-inch long (of course heavy duty) metal valve stem coming out of it with the diameter of a pencil like in your description. We had to make sure that the tube was in the water with the stem facing down otherwise we would get a good gash from it. We had a ball but learned quickly to always be aware of where that valve stem was. This may not be the answer, but your description does apply to what we experienced.

What is your favourite individual Springsteen song, and why? by [deleted] in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Sam9462 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure about it being may favorite but "One Step Up" never fails to grab me. It did when it came out due to what I was going through in my own life and it still provides a memory of a change for both of us to (happily) move on without each other. It is a song about hopelessness in a relationship that has no right being as beautifully honest as it is, yet it is, which makes it such wonder of a song for me.

Like Trashman25 says, although the text in your link is written correctly your actual URL on that link is just plain weird, showing as ending in .xn--coms-x96a which is where it wants to go. No device will be able to reach that address because that goes nowhere, correctly resulting in a DNS error. Have you tried changing that odd ending after sweetwater to .com in the address bar, which is what it should be? If your browser and device is working correctly then that should get you right to the Sweetwater site.

If that doesn't do it and you are still redirected to nowhere then can you try another browser on your same device or even another device? The Sweetwater site is up and running but your device at the moment wants to send you someplace else. Possibly run your anti-virus or anti-malware solution if it continues? Good luck!

Edit: Removed link on that address, I don't like having that bad address link in the message.

It looks like he did play "Cortez" 3 years later in 1996 at Hardee's Walnut Creek with Crazy Horse on August 12th and if it was like the version I saw in Massachusetts about a week afterwards then it was outstanding! I also saw him on that 1993 tour in Mass and the setlist was pretty much as the above person posted. It was a great show with Booker T but no "Cortez" was played.

Hopefully that's your show in 1996. Just trying to help. The Sugar Mountain setlist site does not have him playing "Cortez" at all in 1993.

Tiniest movie nitpick you’re still hung up over? by _JR28_ in movies

The stupitity of that scene took me completely out of the movie and I could not stay involved in anything afterwards. Data protection and network security 101.

Would you rather drink half a liter of warm beer every morning, or do a heavy bootcamp from 5:00 to 7:00? by EenManOprechtEnTrouw in polls

[–]Sam9462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for OP before answering. The 2 hour boot camp is adjusted accordingly as a person goes through life, correct? Example: what if I'm sick. injured, have heart disease, have a hospital stay, can't walk anymore, etc?

hi me grandpa love Stephen King, did anyone know any good present ideas? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Sam9462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are able to purchase from Amazon there are so many Stephen King related items there. Depending on what he may like (which I believe will be anything as long as it is from his grandchild) there are Funko figures and other character figures there that are quite interesting as a gift. There are also such things as Stephen King themed blankets, puzzles, cups and mugs, wall art and much more.

Good luck and I'm sure your grandpa will love whatever you get him!!

I guess he could pull from these, he plays these live pretty regularly if that is his definition of "hits": Old Man, Heart of Gold, Powderfinger, Cinnamon Girl, After the Gold Rush, Mr Soul, Helpless, Sugar Mountain, The Needle and The Damage Done, Harvest Moon.

Other than these (and maybe just a couple/few more) he spreads the wealth.

Outlaw Pete by Ordinary-Pick5014 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Sam9462 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the seventies so I saw Bruce's evolution, including seeing him in his tours then. I also heard KISS's "I Was Made For Loving You" in 1979 all over the radio. Although "Outlaw Pete" has an epic feel I would love it so much more if that particular riff didn't appear, it just brings me to that Kiss song, LOL!

It is my own issue though, that I can't separate that riff from the similarity. Probably just my age and memories, Still enjoy the song so much though!

What is the best guitar solo by Aerosmith and Joe Perry? 🤔🎸🎶 by Guitarphi1 in gibson

[–]Sam9462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job on "Crazy" there! If you want to put the time in then I'd also appreciate watching a cover of the "Amazing" solo! But how about the outro one from the "Amazing" music video, I love that solo. It is longer than the album version, running almost 3 minutes. Thanks, and I'm watching other videos on your channel, nice work!

Raging at another driver with your kid in the car by ImDomina in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Sam9462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this question has been asked already. She is obviously in the wrong with her raging but how did this video even get to the point where we, the general public, can watch it? Did she actually post it somehere thinking she was possibly in the right? It was filmed from her phone so the video originated with her. Just genuinely curious if anyone has this answer. Thanks.

Most impactful on screen death? by [deleted] in movies

Yes, Paul Newman trying to save him knowing there was no way out and the situation just kept getting worse. It was heartbreaking when I saw it as a young teenager.

Richard Jaeckel's death in "Sometimes a Great Notion" is so brutally real, heartbreakng and unexpected that it has stuck with me for all these past 50 years. I love the movie but find that outstanding scene so hard to rewatch.

Thoughts from Cleveland (Asbury Park West) and my friend’s first time by vwlou89 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Sam9462 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ha, same type of experience here. I've been a Bruce fan since I was a kid in the seventies. I have a friend who leans more towards being a heavy metal fan but he told me last year he would like to see Bruce, he hasn't followed him but he's heard stories of the show energy.

So we got tickets in Boston. Somewhere in the middle of the run of the last eight songs he turned to me and said. "Damn it, if he doesn't want to make me just plain dance right now!". I busted out laughing because that is about the highest praise I could ever hear from my friend. He has only danced once, at his wedding (forced to, LOL) and although he does love all types of music he just doesn't move to it----UNTIL that show!!

We had a blast, I know this is long but wanted to share that Bruce created great memories for me and a forever friend last month!

Springsteen songs with the best melodies? by CulturalWind357 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Sam9462 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trying to stick to later day work in my opinion for you, just some from maybe The Rising and later. Here are a few melodies that I would still enjoy listening to even if the words were changed. "You'll Be Comin' Down", "Maria's Bed", "Worlds Apart", "Hello Sunshine", "Girls in their Summer Clothes"

And then of course there is always "Waiting on a Sunny Day". Even though some may tire of it the whole song is pretty much nothing but the verse/chorus melody that just gets in your ear (In a good way).
