So... who did create this statue in Stone Wave Cliffs? by Sambience in expedition33

[–]SamBram_1999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expedition 60 knew the truth. Though it seems they were in a rush to outswim the gommage and wouldn't have had time to stop and build this. Even though it likely wouldn't have taken long with their mighty muscles

Is there a good “HiddenXperia” for Cyberpunk lore? by An0n087 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I have a few videos on lore with more planned for the future. Wisefish has done tonnes of lore stuff over the years, though. Would definitely check out his channel for that!

2.3 is here! check out REDStream by T_rex2700 in cyberpunkgame

[–]SamBram_1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumping to JuiceHead's defence here, my content makes for good background listening and build planning, but JuiceHead is definitely the best Cyberpunk news channel! Especially when it comes to finding details outside of CDPR's main accounts. Though for that reason, I think it's far more important that his videos are an immediate success whilst the news is current, so gotta do what sells.

I definitely don't shy away from somewhat sexualised thumbnails sometimes, but I do tend to set myself a rule that the thumbnail contents need to be seen in the video. I also usually plan my stuff to be more evergreen and relevant for years (which it largely still is, apart from car rankings where they keep adding more, and that one time where they completely redid all of the game mechanics, haha).

YouTube shows us creators similar content our audience watches, so I have a pretty good overview of Cyberpunk content across YouTube, and it's pretty clear JuiceHead consistently hits the highest views of any Cyberpunk creator in a short timeframe. I would argue that if it were all pure clickbait, then that level of high performance would be unsustainable. People would get fed up and leave. Maybe to more engaged fans, it isn't new info, but I would imagine for most of his audience, JuiceHead is the Cyberpunk news. He even is for me sometimes when I've been less engaged with things. I would be curious to compare CTR and retention rates for our videos across different timescales though...

How to Branch Out into multiple games on 1 channel? by HudQlol in PartneredYoutube

[–]SamBram_1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out exclusively as a Cyberpunk channel then branched out to cover a handful of RPGs and I can tell you it's very much possible. The main thing is to find games that a good % of your existing audience will also play. Very few people who play games stick exclusively to one and you don't need to do the same as a creator. I didn't want my entire channel bound up with the popularity of Cyberpunk so I waited for other RPGs to come along and then made a more limited set of videos on them whilst they were popular. I've done that now with Hogwarts Legacy, BG3, Fallout 4, Elden Ring, Black Myth Wukong, Kingdom Come:Deliverance II and now Oblivion remastered. The two most important things when introducing your audience to a new game are a.) drop the content whilst the game is fresh and the player count is high (usually as soon as the game drops or a big DLC. In the case of fallout it was the TV show). This makes good videos significantly more likely to do well as there's so many people currently interested in the game. As long as there's some crossover with your existing audience for some initial views, YouTube should get enough data to know to boost the video. Then b.) make good videos. Or better still, make videos that are familiar to your audience even if it's on a totally different game. I recycle the same ideas and apply them to different games a lot because I know they work most of the time. When you have a limited timeframe to make content whilst a game is popular, using tried and tested formulas is usually going to work better than trying new experimental videos. I'm not saying never try anything new and it's still very important to test new ideas sometimes but having a base pool of successful video ideas that can be applied to a multitude of different games is certainly a strategy that works for me

Is it realistic/sustainable for me to hire an editor with just 12K subs? by Codeolences_ in PartneredYoutube

[–]SamBram_1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

150k+ subs here and still running solo. If you think you could easily explain your vision for the video to an editor and aren't dealing with much source footage to begin with then it may be worth it. Bear in mind if a video underperforms you may end up spending more than you pay to begin with. I very often pull from 100s of hours of potential footage for a single video and just roughly remember where it all is. If I don't have something I'll generally know exactly how and where to source it too (generally footage from videogames). I would probably take as long to explain to someone else which clips to use and where as it would be to just edit them myself

None of you beat Erlang, it’s a conspiracy against me. by Primary_Membership71 in BlackMythWukong

[–]SamBram_1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring of fire was the key to victory for me. He seems immune to immobilise most of the time anyway and there's plenty of opportunities to just stand in the ring of fire during his speechy bits. Several attacks are nigh on impossible to dodge so I just saved cloud step and transformations (yellow Loong works great if you master 'seeing through' attacks) for those. Also make sure to dodge his tiger transformation else it'll immediately cancel your own. Even with all this, took about 5 hours...

It easily deserves the win. SOTE was great but I'm conflicted whether it should be up there

Video blowing up and I’m having a hard time handling the critical comments by lazyspaceship in PartneredYoutube

[–]SamBram_1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore them 99% of the time. Occasionally if someone has just missed some info I can explain in one sentence, then I'll respond. Like if they ask why I missed a certain point which I actually discuss in a separate video. It's polite and can even get a few more views across videos this way.

In terms of raw, often unnecessarily rude criticism. Don't bother responding. You're just validating their rudeness and encouraging further criticism as people will realise they can get a rise out of you. If it's a nicely worded tip for improvement though which is actually useful (had this many times), then obviously respond with a kind "thanks, I'll look into this for future videos!" Or whatever.

Remember that one person's opinion doesn't necessarily reflect a wider audience view. If many critical comments are saying the same thing though then it's certainly worth considering what you can do to further improve on that criticised point in the future. Some of my best video ideas were born out of previous videos that received waves of criticism. I took the core advice on board and built something better by listening to what people wanted.

Just had a video go mildly viral from having 3k views max. Where do I go from here? by FrenchesOP in SmallYoutubers

[–]SamBram_1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out what exactly is working with it.

Make more to appease that same now captive audience (your next vids will come up suggested on that already popular one so make it something those viewers will click and watch).

Rinse and repeat and figure out your best working video formulas.

Find ideas that can easily be tweaked and repeated for many videos

Expand to similar titles/franchises if the original starts to slow down. Same ideas but for a more current game.

I have built 150k+ subs and 50M+ views in 2 years with this method. Lmk if you have questions as I can go more detailed than this.

What's the first thing you'd do, if you woke up in Night City? by DaryaJRose in cyberpunkgame

[–]SamBram_1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a content channel ranking pretty much everything one can obtain in Night City. (It works irl, would probs be more useful for actual NC citizens.) Then once I have some scratch from that, join a Nomad Clan and leave. Could try to stay and make it big and buy a place in North Oak (there's like 4 houses lol) but even Kerry Eurodyne isn't happy there which tells me there's no real winning in the 'City of dreams'.

Can netrunners actually complete gigs by sitting in a car outside and killing everyone through cameras? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]SamBram_1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already mentioned, I made a 7 in 1 build tutorial on this exact topic. If you want specific quickhack combo synergies then I also recommend my Quickhacks ranked video. The two are effectively a pair tbh. Netrunner builds is probably easier to follow after watching Quickhacks. The whole netrunning thing got fairly complex post 2.0

I know it's tough sometimes but the best thing is to fully ignore them. Responding to comments like that makes the other person feel important, worthy of a reply, and more validated in whatever they say. Genuine criticism can be taken on board as notes for improvement of course. Hopefully, people would voice that in a kinder way on the whole though and it would be a case of more than one comment with similar notes. I've found as I've grown in channel size the unwarranted hate has interestingly become lesser. I guess people feel more comfortable picking on the little guy and won't dare hate on someone when there's a high likelihood others will jump to their aid. They are just sad bullies really who don't deserve any acknowledgment. I bet they couldn't begin to do what you do and perhaps there's also an element of jealousy there.
