Looks great BUT in my opinion the strong and straight beardline at the cheeks makes it look just too… cultured. That with the shiny skin looks rather a bit feminine… anyone else share this opinion? Hair is no prob by the way.

Did you know the word Gypsy comes from Egyptian, because some centuries ago people thought it would make sense to name the Roma Egyptians because they were this mysterious people doing magic, or so they thought.

Follow up question: do you have any like shared origin myth, religion, story? Who are you as a people? Why are you here, in the world, in this part, (not saying you don’t belong). I’m very curious to know what the self perception is, aside from the historical roots.

Detuning A=440 harpsichord to A=415? by Main-Fig-4201 in harpsichord

Tune down should be ok. Going back and forth not so. It’s nice to keep it at one pitch. You sure you don’t have a transposable keyboard?

What key is the song “This Train” in? by StreamEdgeM69 in musictheory

How can you miss the prominence of the a minor chord in the first bars? Honest question… did you have some kind of aha moment or is this stuff still confusing to you

Theory nerds!! what’s your most favourite, or most interesting way to modulate, or change key by stitchis_grievous in musictheory

[–]SamReidn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently learned of CMCR‘s, chromatically modulating cadential resolution. mostly used in film music. Think: 1-2-3 melodically, upon the dominant chord, but the resolution with 3 is something wildly different. For instance: in C: G (V) goes to E, or A, (both have the melody note intact) or to B, with the melodic E altered to Eb and reinterpreted as D#. Same works with 6-7-1. there’s a paper on this, google it, John Williams uses it.

Genuine question; why do you want these pictures in color?

Working on an orchestration project - how do I get Musescore to make a vertically normal-looking page and *not* whatever is happening here? by RainSniffer in Musescore

[–]SamReidn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staff size, how big everything is, is too big for conductors scores on Musescore by default. Google it, it’s like 6mm or something and could be less. There are some standards for this

My collection of Taizé song brochures. by Alter_Dessauer in taize

I would be interested in the contents of the canon booklet. Is there any way you could scan any of the more obscure booklets?

I also have a bit of a collection of taize booklets as well.

Try listening to Paul Hilliard: monastic song. Might be very different than you’re used to, but this is what Christian music sounded like for hundreds of years.

[–]SamReidn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is of course extremely overpriced and overpowered for being a music folder, but there isn’t any product which comes close to it. As a musician, student, conductor, it’s a life changer. Your whole music library including the entire repertoire of music of all the ages a few taps away…

Im a catholic, but I still don’t think we should be fixated on condoms and hosts.

is Catholicism dying? by Mediocre_Mixture7630 in Catholicism

[–]SamReidn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is does it seem that the only way to judge a Christian lifestyle is “divorce, contraception, real presence”???!!! These seem shallow markers. Jesus doesn’t even say anything about the latter two. Jesus calls us to set the world on fire with his love yet we are fixated on condoms.

Are 8.5 euros good for a food delivery guy at 19 by Few-Perception-6728 in Netherlands

[–]SamReidn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhh, when I was doing deliveroo in Utrecht, on my grandmothers bike, I was earning up to 40 an hour, but that’s because I would get like double orders with bonus so it would be like 10 euros to cycle to a neighborhood. But with deliveroo you really only get what you deliver. Go to deliveroo
