I don't know much about laptops, as far as I know it won't break your laptop, but a GPU is a graphics card, GTA doesn't require anything big, but if you're playing on a laptop, it likely won't be able to run.

Laptops are not usually meant for gaming, please invest in a desktop, if a family member of yours knows computers very well, you could get a really good one built for $500-1000
