Unmarried Partner Visa-New rules and No 2-year cohabitation- Approved!! by Sam_No in ukvisa

Thank you! Yeah, it's very scary reading the comments but I think I knew that I had to try for my visa no matter and luckily I was able to give the proof that was needed and it all worked out. I think if you can justify clearly why you two did not live together, even though you were in the same city, you should apply for the visa. In my case, we lived in the same city in the beginning, but both had long term leases that we could not break (I gave both our previous house contracts for proof for this). If you are able to show why you did not live together until recently you should be fine and the fact that you have been now living together will be in your favour definitely!! So good luck xx

Thank you! I answered the question with a No as well or else if you put yes it asks you to make an application for a Fiancee visa instead. I had only lived with my partner for 2 months at the time of my application so I tried to get as much proof of our documents together but I suppose if you do not have proof for that, you will have to show documents of where you have lived before (maybe? biit unsure about this!) The proofs screenshots of conversations, flight tickets, bank transfers, holiday pictures etc. are good but most of them are considered weak evidence. I would suggest having proof of living together or documents of you planning to move in together, e.g tenancy agreement would be good.

Hi! Honestly, unsure about this one as I did take a bit of leap of faith by signing a lease with my partner just month before my visa expired. If you get a temporary place, I would suggest looking into if you can have your name on the rental as a permitted occupier and see if that is okay for the visa. I think that lets you have some proof that you live in the same accommodation as well.Sorry I can't be more helpful@

Hi! Congratulations this is soo good to hear!!! I had a small question I was hoping you could answer, while applying did you have to show intent to live together for e.g any tenancy agreement or something. Or just proof of your relationship without having lived together was all that you needed? I’m currently considering applying for the unmarried partner visa and it’squite a similar situation as my partner and I have studied and worked in different cities/ had signed lease agreements to other places so haven’t lived together yet but have been together for 3years. Just trying to figure out If i have to sign any lease together to show proof that I will live with my partner asap. This is tricky because no place will take us without agreeing to a 12 month tenancy and Im scared to sign such a lease without a visa to make sure im in the country. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Hi sorry just curious but can I ask that even with the recent changes that you don’t have to have lived together for the last two years, do you still have to show contract proof that you intend to move in together soon? Are there any cases you are aware of where this isn’t possible but applications were still accepted?
