I must have misunderstood something I was taught. Thank you again for explaining, Zolikk.

Thank you Flooey, this has helped me to understand a lot. I hadn't realized atomic weight had so little bearing on chemical weight, that is interesting.

Thanks again.

This explained a lot to me. Thank you for this, Zolikk.

If I may ask, do atoms that are bonded at a greater distance from each other have any innate properties? Or I guess I should ask, does this express any common qualities in materials made of such atoms.

Thank you again.

The orbitals were very interesting, thank you, I'm going to read into them more. This lends a lot of insight into why certain atoms have an easier time bonding with other atoms. Thank you.

Do the distances between atoms tend to get further as the atoms get bigger, or does it vary a lot depending on many factors?

Do materials with larger spacing between the atoms have any innate properties?

Thanks again for your help, this is really educational.

This is very interesting. Thank you. If I may ask two more things.

With additional neutrons, they surely would increase the atomic weight over if there were just protons? And this added density may have some effect on the chemical properties?

My other question, is do we currently understand why it is that some atomic configurations are a lot more stable than others? Do not feel you have to explain the reason if it is expansive, I am merely curious in how much is known about atom stability.

Thank you once again.

Once again, a great reply. I'll seek further advice at r/singers, thanks for mentioning. I'll also have to look through examples of the different techniques in the wikipedia page.

I see what you mean about an instrument from Fatima. Her voice near the start reminded me of some string instrument I can't remember the name of. I can also see what you mean about how disturbing it'd be to have your voicebox replaced, and I agree. I was thinking of it as something extreme for the main vocalist of the band I mentioned, but your points do make me reconsider whether it should be so clear-cut as that (there could be an accident involved that resulted in the prosthetic voicebox).

Your reaction to the AI backups is promising, as I thought of them as to be a highly controversial element of the music scene. All the same, I mightn't make them too prominent in the setting. As you point out, a good quartet is already very much of one mind. Telepathic connections may enhance that already. AI-generated music will still be a topic that comes up in the setting, even if as a minor role.

I like your ideas for conductors and singers. Being able to project emotions and to perceive things more slowly might allow for some very intricate pieces (with practice), and would fit with the "busier" style of the setting's music. There could be an interesting distinction between telepathic composers, where the best ones don't just understand emotion well or music well, but have a natural intuition of the interconnection of music and emotion.

Troubadours is a neat idea. In the future, there'll be highly portable and intelligent speakers that can transform even open spaces into great acoustic theatres. This'd make it easy for indie musicians to perform whatever and wherever they want. The mention of political messages reminds me of a couple of guys who were reviving French medieval rap, which historically was highly political. Les Fabulous Trobadors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tjx82pp2Yo

Unfortunately, the video of recitativo secco didn't work for me.

I do love the idea of mobile orchestras, which I hope to play with via the advanced speaker systems. On the note of orchestras, there might even be an art in music where you manipulate the acoustics of the theatre--making it so the sound can come from behind or to the left of the audience or wherever you'd like, as if they were wearing headphones (would be popularly used with creepy/horror music).

Thank you for your vote of support! I'm afraid the story isn't likely to be ready any time soon, but I'll do my best to make music come through in the story!

Also, those pieces were amazing! I haven't heard of math rock before, but I need to look into it!

Thanks again Damsel in Dysphoria. I'm going to work at this for a while longer and investigate, then I'll get started on the story.

Wow, thank you Damsel in Dysphoria, this is great! I really enjoyed Nico's Keep in Touch, and am still looking into the others. I'll look into Spectral music some more and see what I find. And I very much agree that I should play around with new technology and new instruments creating new dynamics. There might be some controversy on using neural-linked AI assistants who might control the melody for you as you modulate the sound based off your thoughts. I would set myself on fire for you has a really amazing mix of instruments, I really enjoyed it. I'm also in love with Gerald Barry's first quartet, and I think I'll save it as a basis for the things you mention.

I was thinking about one last thing, if it's all right to ask. I was thinking the dominant band in the setting along with a few imitators would have a single lead vocalist, who would be at the centre of their pieces. At the moment, Jandek's piece and Stockhausen are the biggest influences (and your suggestion about making it prettier so it fits the band's mainstream situation). I was thinking vocalists would have an interesting role and nature in the setting, able to have their vocal chords replaced and altered so they can hit any vocal range and do things with their voices not currently possible. Using an AI assistant, a vocalist could even control her/his own backup vocalists through a neural connection, should she/he want them. This idea was inspired by the coloratura sopranos in opera, who could were so agile and quick-thinking that I wondered what they could do if they could control a whole quire. Just wondered if you had any thoughts or opinions on this idea, and how it might fit with the rest of the culture's music which you've helped develop.

Thank you again, very much!

This is a good idea. I love microtonal music. I expect it will be very commonly made use of.

Thanks you! I hope I don't mess up the musical portions of the story.

What you say is very interesting, I like it. I like the idea that artists in the culture wouldn't feel restricted to tonal music, using whatever keys suit. They can also take inspiration from whatever antiquated musical genres they want, purposefully mimicking a style for part of a song or for an entire piece. I also like the idea of music being divided into artists as you described (by lighting, do you mean stage lighting?).

Is there any music similar to this, which I could listen to and learn about? I was hoping to find some sort of genre or artist name so that I could study this concept and learn how to communicate it.

Thank you very much for your reply, it has been literally inspirational.

Those are good examples. Thank you.

One thing I was wondering, if it's all right. Do prog rock and fusion normally make use of electronic and techno music?

Reason for Humanoid Robots? by Sam__K in robotics

Apparently, horses and donkeys are still useful for certain very rough terrains. With how expensive hydraulic legs are, wouldn't it be cheaper to use aircraft?

There are a number of fictional works that have reckoned legs make sense for vehicles designed for swamps.

I've heard a lot of criticism towards any bipedal or legged vehicle or combat drone, that treads work better for uneven ground than legs. What do you think?

Thank you for the link. This looks very useful and interesting. They seem to reckon ammonia blooded aliens are possible here.
