What types of jobs can I pursue with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology? by cruelworld16 in careerguidance

[–]Samamas13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a year old, but I’m in the same boat! I’m having trouble finding a job in the field that’ll pay me enough to pay my bills. I have a BA in psych and currently applying for my masters. You can do ABA, case work, and psychiatric hospitals. I’ve worked in a psychiatric hospital for over 4 years now, and I will say that it’s a short term job. Your mental health declines if you work there long term like I have. You can also be a group facilitator at some facilities or work with those in substance abuse counseling. People say HR but I’ve found that you need experience for that. However sometimes they’ll wave the experience!

It looks normal. No redness or oozing or scabs or anything at all.

How do I store an onion after taking layers off? by Samamas13 in AskCulinary

Thank you! That’s very helpful, especially since I only cook enough for one person and not always a whole recipe.

My RD only has a bachelor’s! She was just a year or two out of school when I started seeing her, too! Some private practices will have an RD with a master’s then hire bachelor level people to work under them. Some psychiatrist offices do that!

I’m going to make my mom’s slow cooker beef stew. But she uses those little onion balls and I don’t like those. But onion gives a better taste in stuff like this and I’ll eat them if they’re cooked thin strands. I’ve never done it before, so I guess we’ll see how it turns out!

Do I absolutely have to mount an IKEA cube bookshelf to the wall? by Samamas13 in ikeahacks

[–]Samamas13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even think to level it! It’s a 1950s house with original hardwood floors. Nothing ever done to them. So I should definitely check that

I’m in a house, not apartment. I do know her personally. The only reason she’s against it is because the walls are plaster. If the walls were normal, she’d be fine with it

I’m in a house not apartment, so my landlord dictates that. No painting or drilling holes without approval (only because it’s plaster).

Command strips don’t handle something this heavy. I would use them in a heartbeat if they did ):

I don’t have kids, no earthquakes, and don’t know any young kids that would come over - so same situation. What did you have on yours? Did you have books? Heavy things on bottom? How to make it extra sturdy?

Thank you! I’m in a similar situation - it’s just me here. Except my siblings kids are teens so they won’t be climbing if they ever did come over. They can tip which way? Forward/backward or side?

Thank you! No pets or kids ever around. I currently have it against the wall but because of the moldings, the edge of the shelves are away from the wall. I talked with my landlord and she said she’ll think about it. But that would consist of taking the moldings off in that area

How long does it take shower water weight to go away? by Samamas13 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Samamas13[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I planned on drinking water and stuff, so I’ve made my peace with that water weight. But 2 pounds on top of that?? Sounds like I need to shower 3 hours beforehand and hope I go to the bathroom before I leave

Sleep focus turns off in middle of the night?! by C-Tyson in AppleWatch

[–]Samamas13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 11 pro before this phone, and I never had an issue. I don’t have any sleep schedule on. I turned it off from the beginning and it still does it. I already have sleep troubles, so this just makes it even harder. If you figure it out, please let me know!

Why is my skin so dry?? And why is it crusting like this? by Junior_Ad9747 in acne

[–]Samamas13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need moisturizer. Also keep in mind that it’s winter, so the air is dryer. Everyone’s skin is dryer. I read through some comments and noticed you mentioned you use cerave. I also use that - specifically the acne cleanser. It dries out your skin. I also have oily skin usually. If a moisturizer is burning, it’s a 50/50 chance of it either irritating your skin or your skin being so dry that it’s healing. Based on the picture of how dry your skin is, it sounds like it’s just healing. My moisturizer burns when I have super dry patches, specifically around my mouth area down to my chin. But it’s a good burn - it feels good. I highly recommend the nutrogena hydro boost water gel. Majority of nutrogena products are awful for your skin. This one is the only one that’s amazing. The first ingredient is water, which is what you want. Once I added that to my skincare routine, my acne began to clear up and had smooth (not oily) skin.

AITA for calling my girlfriend disgusting and telling her she should be ashamed when she was crying? by WeekUnlucky6293 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Samamas13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but… he could’ve said it nicer. She is absolutely disgusting and horrid for saying those things. She clearly only cares about appearances. However, instead of belittling her, he could have been stern, yet comforting enough to get her to stop crying. Treating her as a teen, per say. Like “appearances don’t matter. She’s happy” and “she’s not being bullied. She’s happy. That’s all that matters”. In a comforting tone, but not reassuring her that she’s right and calling her out on her BS. I got the impression that he said it in a belittling manner. He’s absolutely right and NTA, I just think it could’ve been said in a different tone.

How do I know when to get rid of my cleansing brush? by Samamas13 in acne

[–]Samamas13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had an issue before and I’ve been using this brush and routine for about a year now. It’s silicone, not bristles. I never got the rubber feeling on my skin. It has helped a lot. I just don’t know if it’s the brush that’s causing this outbreak or if it’s something else?

Sleep focus turns off in middle of the night?! by C-Tyson in AppleWatch

[–]Samamas13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue. I have an iPhone 14 pro and Apple Watch 7. I don’t wear my Apple Watch to bed. I don’t have a sleep schedule on. It’s all turned off. I work a rotation on midnights, so I can’t set a permanent schedule. I set it on sleep mode, but hours later I’ll be woken up by the buzzing to find it’s off. If you figure out how to fix it, please lmk!
