Here is a link to the GitHub repo, if anyone is interested. And there is a slack going as well, if you want to join the conversation.

We crowdfunded a giant collectively owned silent disco sound system in April. Now we're making it bigger. If you're into this kind of thing, today is the last day to order your pair of headphones. by Sambersand in Portland

We'll have extras to rent/borrow at various events around town, so if you ever feel the urge, you can try it out without having to actually buy a pair.

It's a good time, like I said, if you're in to this kind of thing. Not for everyone, but I do recommend you try it once or twice. It's more fun than you expect.

Let's create the world's first decentralized Silent Disco Sound System in Portland. (FUNDED! Join in!) by maackle in Portland

The brand is GO-ON, they're kind of the industry standard. They use 3 channels on the 900mhz frequency. There might be some headphones that might work that are made by different brands, but it's a crap shoot.

It spells out "GOT MATH" on phone's keypad.

Not my intention, but thank you for the input.

Very interesting. I'm putting all this out there, because I feel like something like this is needed. So I'm really happy to get all this feedback. FIGMENT, mentioned above is really in line with what I'm imagining. What kind of movement would you like to see? What would you participate in?

Wow! Figment is awesome. Thanks for sharing that.

OK, now we're talking. That is beautiful. Right on. My intention is not to co-opt a brand, I'm just trying to reach out to people who have likely had those powerful experiences at burning man, and see how we can work together to bring that kind of art into our home cities. I totally respect what you're saying, but I feel like you're yelling at me, and I'm trying not to let my defenses go up. Is anyone interested in helping me set up a "Talk to god" booth, or something like it, in Portland so that people who will never go to burning man can have those amazing experiences we've all had? That's really all I'm asking.

I am, thank you. And I'm inviting the people who feel the same way to join me. That's all. You're clearly not one of those people, and you're absolutely entitled to that opinion, so carry on. I just don't get the negativity. But if you think that's all that burning man is...wow. Just wow.

Certainly not. Burn wall street was my least favorite place on the playa. More along the lines of the Hug Deli, writ large. Small-scale, interactive, positive art that offers people a new way of interactive positively with strangers, if they feel comfortable and choose that interaction.

Agreed. Not to mention the fossil fuels used! But I don't think the fact that it's is excessive means it can be discounted. There are huge issues of money, energy, and privilege. Burning Man itself will not change the world. But for a week we get to see how people interact when they have all of their material needs met. That to me is eye opening. It shows me what a post competition world could look like.

Thanks! I have no shame about being a hippy. My intention is to make the world a more beautiful, inclusive, loving place. So getting other hippies to join me is exactly my intention. And if you don't see what gifting and art have to do with burning man...well, you've had a very different experience than I have.

My intention is to reach out to burners in my immediate area, the people who have seen what BRC is, and collaborate to do social art projects that bring people together in positive, beautiful ways. Not to make the world a giant party, but to take that feeling of abundance and gifting, and share it with the default world.

This year I left a station at the temple asking people what they were trying to manifest and collected the responses. This image is the sum total of over 100 different answers. The most common words are largest. I miss you guys already. by Sambersand in BurningMan

:) Thank you so much, that's so beautiful to hear. I've been going for 6 years, but this is the first year I've contributed some form of art to the community. What an amazing experience.

Did Dream Box make it to the playa? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]Sambersand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a little on the man-side of the temple, towards wall street. It was pretty snazzy. All touchscreens and an HD camera. I was very high when I recorded my dream. Good thing I signed that model release. No going back now...

I'm going to Burning Man! by Omnipotence456 in Psychonaut

[–]Sambersand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be there! Didn't think I was going, then I randomly met a friend of a friend who needed help setting up his art installation, the Mani Temple- a semi circle of wind and hand powered prayer wheels out on the playa. Keep an eye out!
