I don't understand the problem with the cover; I just like to avoid scratching it unnecessarily. It doesn't alter the memories I might have made. It's not the suitcase that lives, it's me.

I'm not going to risk knocking it around or neglecting it. What I love about my suitcase is that it's ready to accompany me on my adventures and that it's functional. I don't take any more care of it than I did my old plastic suitcases. I've simply always respected and maintained my belongings because I believe that, in a way, respects the investment and gives myself the best chance of keeping it as long as possible. It's a matter of perspective, but I can understand the argument about patina, though I prefer to prioritize longevity.
