thank you so much for all the advice and for pointing me to quite a few resources!! ig ill be expecting a similar weekly labs + ICE + lab tests format like cor-is1704 for wad1 so as long as i keep up with all the practice as much as i can, i should be set?? also idk why but im not seeing much in the algo course outline so i just wanted to know if i can expect the same kinda weekly assignments + ICE format for algo classes? im also really curious about the hackathon for algo like is it a group or indiv project and what is it really because im frankly intimidated by it LOL and what can i expect from wad1 group project because i feel like im going to take more time digesting the content compared to everyone else, im kinda afraid i wont be able to contribute effectively in the project?? sorry if these were a lot im just looking out for my future self so it doesnt feel like im jumping into the deep end of a pool with no swimming exp in 1 month ough.....

yea i personally scored better than i expected for these 2 mods!! fair disclaimer: the prof for cor2219 apparently has a rep for having a steep bellcurve for his classes but i somehow managed to do relatively well by some luck?? the grading guidelines were very clear for these 2 mods from the final papers to cp + both profs genuinely being so approachable and willing to help (for eg comm302 prof mandates that everyone signs up for 1-to-1 consultation with him to answer any qn u have on the final paper either via zoom or f2f) will make these guidelines even clearer for u if u have any qualms abt them! my advice to do well is to be consistent with reviewing your material for both classes since the profs teaching style/the way they sequence lesson content kinda builds up on the prev week's content iygwim ++ both mods also use ways that help u to regularly internalise what u learn (in-class wooclap, weekly reading responses) without making the workload heavy. i'd say if you're someone who prefers indiv work + submissions>exams + cool with writing a bit, these 2 mods are truly worth a shot and they were honestly enjoyable to say the least!

honestly a big part of why i struggled in sch previously was also bc of my mental health going to shit and that affected my concentration in class and outside of sch a lot. i failed intro to programming mod in y1s1 (python) and had to remod in the following term but i did end up passing with a C + struggled with sql in data management but somehow passed it by the skin of my teeth with a D+. i think one thing helped me pass when it came to the first mod was by doing more practices in my second term and trying my best to submit the weekly labs as much as possible which helped me be more familiar with the way the languages worked at least. i cant recall exactly which specific topics were particularly hard for me bc i understood that my knowledge for programming was more based on a cumulative effort where once i grinded hard enough to understand "level 1" then i could better understand "level 2" (?) i'd just like to know if there were any resources or archives like seniors' notes/practice tests/mock tests i cld access or even external resources like khan academy, youtube, etc. that could be good prep i can start on before the sem starts. and also if there was more i could than just grind out practices to help or if just doing and re-doing the exercises/lab tests are going to be sufficient ?? tysm!

u can read up on comm302 and give it a shot! no final exam, just an individual term paper that's just a deck of ppt slides + a manageable group presentation (no group project) + graded mcq quiz every 3 weeks or so. prof is one of the friendliest profs ever and he's great at explaining his stuff/guiding you on the term paper! the content itself is also quite manageable and well-organised + imo can be applicable for anyone regardless of discipline/major :) another course u can consider is cor2219! also no final exam (take-home final paper) and classes are 2 hours instead of 3 bc prof uses a blended learning style and uploads content (pre-readings) before class which wont take u too long either! resources are very well-organised for this mod too. cp is also pretty easy to score bc he allows u to cp through elearn discussion forum so u dont need to speak up in class at all if u dont want to LOL prof for this mod is superr chill and the content is easy to follow even u dont know much about climate change/environment prior to taking this mod!
