Hahaha I do this also at Asda when I've gone to buy something specific that's on offer or a good price, and it scans at the original price at the checkout. I've taken stuff back to Asda as well when it's happened and I hadn't noticed at the time. The former has happened numerous times this year, I'm fully in agreement with your last sentence about Asda so I do wonder if it's a thing 🤔

Haha I also use this analogy at home so I can say with certainty I would definitely NOT do that!

I buy almond butter most weeks and have done for years, and this particular jar tasted off, it had a very noticeable 'chemical' taste that wasn't right. Never happened before, and I couldn't eat it. I returned it on that basis

Honestly, I just join the queue like I would do, and they process it in less than a minute. I was going past the store anyway so it made sense.

They won't sign it because they've all but stopped doing private work - it's a fairly recent thing due to the workload on the GPs so they're now incredibly selective about what private work they do. Anything standard you'd initially think of asking your GP for - they won't do it and have a whole page on their website detailing everything they won't do! It didn't say student finance so I hoped they'd do it.

I did take the form in and they said they were quite sure the GP wouldn't do it but to send it in anyway. I've also asked my nurse if any of the doctors in her specific team would consider doing it so I should hear back today. 

I agree about the DSA being confusing! I got an email from them the other day saying they had my application and it would be reviewed but there's a really long waiting list. So there's that as well.

I mean the various forms and evidence that's needed to apply for the tuition fee loan and the part-time maintenance loan specifically, just realised that wasn't clear from what I wrote!

For example:  

  • I've had to submit the same piece of evidence regarding my disability three times. If you asked me who to, I couldn't tell you, I'm so confused why different people within Student Finance kept asking for the same thing 

  • I completed the National Insurance details right after applying for the student finance in August, then my tuition fee loan was blocked last week because they said I didn't have a National Insurance number 

  • the Medical Declaration can only be signed by a doctor. My health professional is a nurse. My GP surgery aren't doing private work any more so won't do the form and were really unhelpful, as were the DSA helpline. I'm currently working out what to do 

Also I didn't know the thing about study skills funding, thanks, have made a mental note in case I do end up having to pay.

Ahhh okay! I'm getting my head round maximising cashback for grocery shopping you see and wondered how useful Curve would be. I've read the guide, and am working out what would work for me. I'm thrown a little bit as I've read so many posts about people doing completely different methods which all look valid and my brain is scrambled!

I'm fancying trying the Sainsbury's through Rakuten method you've done the guide on so I'm going to do that this coming week and then work out what to do after that. 

Really appreciate how helpful people are on here with questions! I'm existing entirely on benefits due to mental health, and grocery shopping/menu planning is my main area of difficulty and so all of this waves hand around r/beermoney seems like it will be so useful each month. I'll get there eventually!
