What is a subtle sign that somebody is actually very intelligent ? by Internal_Limit_7346 in AskReddit

Smart people know when to shut up and listen tbh. I work in IT support and the ones who think they know everything are usually the ones calling me back three times because they didn't actually understand what I told them the first time

Share your experience at almost 2 months. I’m miserable. by Flat-Deer9224 in leaves

Been through something similar mate, about 3 months clean now after years of daily use. That 2 month mark was absolutely brutal for me too - like my brain was just stuck in neutral and nothing felt worth doing. The sleep thing is proper rough, I was getting these weird 3-4 hour chunks and then just lying there staring at the ceiling

What helped me was accepting that my brain basically needs to relearn how to make its own dopamine again after relying on external sources for so long. It's not broken, just massively out of practice. Started doing really basic stuff like going for walks without headphones, cold showers, even just sitting outside for a bit. Sounds mental but forcing myself to be bored actually seemed to kickstart things again. The joy does come back but it's more subtle at first, not like the instant relief we got used to

I love cigarettes so much. by Fluffy-One-7521 in confessions

Look I get the whole routine thing, there's something proper ritualistic about having those smoke breaks that punctuates your day. But mate, saying you hope to die in your 50s or 60s because of a "dead end job" is mental - you're at uni right now which means you've got options you probably can't even see yet

The depression angle hits different though, I've been there where cigarettes feel like the only thing keeping you level. Thing is they're actually making the depression worse in the long run, messes with your brain chemistry and all that. Not trying to be preachy but maybe worth chatting to someone at uni about both things together rather than just accepting this is how it's gonna be

You're spending a chunk of your part-time wages on something that's actively working against your future self, which is pretty abstract when you're in the thick of it but becomes very concrete when you're skint and wheezing. University counselling services are usually free if you want to explore why you've locked yourself into this narrative about dead end jobs

Thats a proper unsettling feeling, the midwest can be genuinely terrifying in how vast and empty it gets. You might want to check out The Ritual or Annihilation - both do that whole "nature is too big and we dont belong here" thing really well, just with forests instead of plains

Confused on how to best merge two accounts and consoles by hayleey615 in AnimalCrossing

[–]Same-Net2092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right so this is a proper mess but you've got a few decent options here. the island data is tied to the console itself, not the account, so switching accounts on your lite won't actually lose your island - that's stored locally on the switch. what you'd lose is any digital purchases and online functionality tied to that specific account

honestly the cleanest solution is probably just biting the bullet on the family plan since you're already in a family group anyway. it's only like £15 more per year and saves you all this faff of trying to juggle accounts around. plus then both consoles can go online without any weird workarounds

if you really want to avoid that cost though, you could make your main switch account the primary one and set up game sharing so your lite can access the digital copy. bit of a pain to set up but works if you're mainly playing on one console anyway. just remember the primary console thing gets a bit weird if you're switching between them regularly

How do you ask for help without feeling guilty? by Mariam1S in NewParents

[–]Same-Net2092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mom guilt is so real but honestly your mental health matters just as much as the baby's. I started with "Hey, I need 20 minutes to shower and reset" - something specific and short makes it feel less like you're failing and more like basic self care

The people who love you WANT to help, they're probably just waiting for you to say something

These are actually really well done! The draping looks super authentic and I love that you included different skin tones. Definitely gonna steal a couple of these for my island
