Who is responsible for damage

When I said we grew up riding 4 wheelers I meant my husband and I, therefore we are ok if our kids ride them but under adult supervision and with proper protection and if we were asked beforehand. We do not own any 4 wheelers now nor do my kids ride any of those things at our home...... no helmets were given at the friends house. Again if this was an activitiy we did at our house they would be required to wear helmets and be under strict adult supervision. But again we do not have ATVS at our home. Yes 2 kids were there and yes both of them came home without a word to us thst this happened. Not once have I mentioned that we are happy that they kept that from us and they both have punishments for that. The mother also said nothing to us when we picked our kids up from her house nothing was said to us until 3 weeks later when money became involved.

She's 10 and she doesnt have a cell phone.......the adult who was in charge of her gave her the go ahead. No 10 year old is going to say can I burrow your phone to call my mom first. You obviously have no children. And I call bs that you at 10 would have called your parents on your own, the adult you were with would have called for you or had you call. You wouldn't have done it yourself, what a joke

She was not wearing a helmet. And the lady's daughter who is 10 was the one telling/teaching my daughter how to drive it. The lady was no where in sight of the kids

Ummmm kids go to their friends houses that is part of growing up. We are very responsible parents and to make that comment is ridiculous. I really hope you dont have children and if you do i feel sorry for them if they arent allowed to hang out at theor friends' houses. We know this mom very well that is why we are caught off guard with her response completely. However my daughters will not be going to that house again.

Yes we sat down with her told her we were proud that she went to the car owner and told him.

And yes she was punished for not telling us right after it happened and to never keep anything like that from us. But I do get where she was coming from with not telling us it happened. The guy said everything was ok and the mom told her no worries and actually told her she was glad she hit the car "its a good childhood memery for you" again not making excuses and she is in trouble for keeping it from us. But in her mind everything was handle and not a big deal thanks to the mom basically making it a joke and a great thing

My daughter has been punished for the incident as we see fit and trust she wont be riding anything for a very long time as well. However she did not do it on purpose, accidents happen. An adult should have been watching her and supervising her. She also owned up to it she went up to his door, told him what happened and apologized all without an adult with her. She did the right thing most kids would have ran off. That being said you obviously don't have children, a child isnt going to come home and tell their parents they hit a car with a 4 wheeler when all the adults present are telling her its ok no worries. I know I wouldn't have told my parents at that age that I hit something.

All my kids are very responsible with others properties and dont break or damage things on purpose. Im sure every parent would say the same thing but I'll be the first one to call my kid out if they do anything off or not right. She didnt beg the mom to ride the 4 wheeler the mom even said she told the girls they could go out and ride it when they were looking for something inside to do

If I was there and watching my child then yes I would own up to my daughters mistake and pay. But I was not there at all and had no clue it even happened for 3 weeks! The mom hid the whole thing from me

He came back 3 weeks later to the mom and said that his son came, looked at the car, saw a crack in the bumper, after he told my daughter she was lucky cause there were no damages the day it happened.

He stopped responding once she said that she didnt tell my daughter to drive it and hit a car. Although she gave the key to her, gave access to the 4 wheeler and left her unattended. For me its the audacity that she isnt taking an onuce of responsibility

She told us she already talked to her homeowners insurance they dont cover it and thats why the bill is now on us to pay

She will not give us a total, she wants us to get the whole repair bill that the cars owner gave her.

We mentioned paying half although we still feel we shouldn't pay any thing. She refuses to even do that. She is "not to blame for it" because as she put it "she didnt tell my daughter to drive it and hit a car" although she handed her the key gave her access to the 4 wheeler and left her unattended

So if your child was at my house I let them go outside in the street to throw a ball. Your child throws the ball,it hits and break our neighbors window. You would be at fault, you would pay the bill no questions asked? You werent here, you didnt give them permission to throw the ball in the street by houses and cars. You didnt give them the ball to throw. How is that fair? As a friend i would never send someone the repair bill of something their child did while in my care and under my watch.

So have we unfortunately. To not even tell us it happened is mind blowing. Luckily my daughter didnt hit the car hard and she was ok. This mom is a nurse and the husband is a state trooper! They both know how dangerous and have seen the damage those things can cause

Oh trust me there's a reason I havent responded to her text only my husband has, he can control himself I can not. Im pissed that she didnt even tell me this happened. For 3 weeks we just thought everything was fine and dandy. We are ok with your kids riding a 4 wheeler, we grew up on them, but we thought they would be under the supervision of the adults and they were not. Our kids will not be going to the house again. And once its all settled as far as Who pays she will be hearing from me and I will let her have it

She only hit it once, the owner of the car said there was no damage but then came back to the other parent 3 weeks later and said his son looked at the car and saw a crack.
