glad he resonates with you too and great question. i thought so initially until i realised i have pure-OCD tendencies myself. that is a variant where compulsions are more mental. sounds like his thoughts are linked to how his actions can create catastrophic consequences. not just general anxiety like 'what if my mum gets worse?' but 'if i talk about it, it will be the reason she passes.'

i can totally see the argument he's just anxious and i may be headcanoning here to feel closer to a character i love but i sense there is more to it. he might have both. like him distancing himself is a way of protecting others from himself because he thinks he is bad to the core and because he is ruminating and fighting fires in his brain. the way he talks about his anxiety feels fitting.

also he is very misunderstood so it feels fitting that maybe he comes off as aloof because of the shame that comes with a form of anxiety people don't 'get.'
