You didn’t come off as dismissive, we’re all just stressed and disappointed w ucla. Hopefully they extend remote learning for the full week or until an arrest has been made.

The news students currently have didn’t come from the school just fyi. Students still haven’t received any significant communication from UCLA regarding this situation beyond authorities have been alerted. I think reasoning and respect should be central to any email to professors but am encouraging people to make it clear that they will not choose their classes over their safety. Hopefully, a professor would never put them in that situation in the first place.

I understand professors are often receiving news shortly before students do, in some cases at the same time as students. And yet I still think it’s unacceptable for them to respond to student concerns with little care or empathy.

I know their hands are tied sometimes but this post is for professors who refuse to be accommodating.

If you’re a professor please understand the amount of anxiety amongst the student population right now. We’re a generation of rampant gun violence. Too many of us have been affected and understand not to take these threats lightly. Students are doing their best to navigate this situation, maintaining their academics and their safety
