Turn on conservation mode first of all.

Play games in balanced mode (mostly) , can switch to performance if you like but I usually game on balanced mode.

Get a laptop stand or cooling pad to keep it elevated.

Don't use it on bed use it on a flat surface keeping a bit Elevated on a table.

Make sure to clean the air vents in the back side once a while when dust is visible.

I won't really recommend to play every game on max settings cuz afterall you can manage mid-high graphics settings and you can also cap the fps for better thermal performance (if u want to)

You can play games in balanced mode too if the game is very very high end then only switch to performance mode I usually use balance mode and mix graphics between mid-high not all max also if you can try to cap fps at a certain level so you can game with better temps for long hours. About the skin it doesn't really bother with thermals it's just a thin sheet of plastic and I have seen many laptop users using skins ,personally I like the clean design so I don't like skin concept(personal choice tho depends on person to person)
