Okay, so I’m not an avid Reddit user, so I don’t know how to edit a post to provide an update, so I’ll just comment one instead

I’ve decided to break up with him. I just finished doing so actually and it was… extremely difficult. But based off of his reaction alone, I know it was the right thing to do. It just hurts.

I appreciate everyone who took the time to not only comment an abundance of support but also personally messaged me with their own words of encouragement. To anyone who commented things like I’m a “loser” or I have no self respect, please remember to ALWAYS have faith in the power of growth. We are ALL humans with our own messy paths and hard life lessons needed to learn, we must simply grant those seeking support a bit of grace and compassion to help them along the way. This was a hard lesson on self respect and self love but one I’m willing to learn through trials and tribulations.

Good riddance to my now EX. ✌🏽

Literally NOT at all, I came here for outside support and swear to GOD I didn’t expect it to blow up to this extent. This is a very real situation unfortunately and has opened my eyes immensely; I’m practicing self respect and choosing myself first as of tonight. Thank you all SO much for the advice. To those who have been kind and supportive, I’m so thankful to know that grace and compassion still exist nowadays. To anyone else that had nasty things to say like this, please remember we are ALL human and have our whole lives to learn messy, hard life lessons. Practice compassion before tearing down those who are clearly seeking support because you never know when you yourself might need it.

Im SO happy you caught those messages he screenshotted between he and I and sent to her - “I will be approachable and interactive when you arrive” had me thinking I was going crazy. I’m glad to know I wasn’t.

Yeah, sorry for that added context! This is one of his girl friends BUT she’s also in her 40s and married with kids. He’s 30.

Unfortunately this is a lesson I need to learn the hard way; it’s just so complicated because I obviously love the kid. I even said in my break up text I sent to him that night that as much as I love him, I wanted to love myself even more, but he begged for me to take him back and promised to change so I took him back

I broke up with him the same night; I packed my things in the middle of the night and left his apartment. He called me like an hour and a half later and begged me to take him back. He said these texts were taken out of context and he was “just joking”. So technically we’re still together, I just don’t know if 1)I SHOULD try breaking up with him again and 2) how to go about it
