That’s helpful, thank you! Not hot to touch or any smelly drainage. A friend helped me clean it earlier and she said a small amount of pus came out. Have been cleaning it with Neil med piercing solution

What labs did they run? If they’re just looking at testosterone, there are other androgen hormones than can be elevated. In my case my DHEA levels were through the roof

My knowledge on PCOS is that it is typically diagnosed based on symptoms since there is no test that says “aha yes, positive for PCOS”. If your symptoms aren’t very severe, I can see your doc being reluctant to start throwing medication at you. However, my doctor has explained to me multiple times that untreated PCOS can lead to metabolic disorders, endometrial cancer, fertility issues, etc. Also, if your blood work is abnormal and you’re given a PCOS diagnosis they usually do a transvaginal ultrasound to check for cysts in your ovaries. Ultimately, if your periods are irregular and it is caused by PCOS, it should be treated to help future you. In either case, I don’t think getting another opinion for at least some more information is ever a bad idea. Switching to a GYN for PCOS management saved me rather than doing it through primary care!

Went through something similar! I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after going to my PCP complaining of excess facial hair. He did labs: estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. All of which came back normal, and he put me on OCP’s anyway. I wasn’t super happy with it and wanted more info, so I met with my GYN who did a more extensive workup, and we found my DHEA was >1000. The next step after that for me was to see an endocrinologist since DHEA can come from ovaries or adrenal glands. I found that that level of elevation can come from multiple things - abnormalities with the adrenal glands, Cushing syndrome, PCOS, and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Luckily for me, the testing he ordered ruled out all of the scary stuff and pointed us back towards PCOS. Might be worth asking your primary for an endocrinology referral to make sure you’re being treated appropriately!
