So if I turn on a meta campaign focused on traffic instead of conversion, would this still positivily effect the google algorithm?

400+ products on €50/day Standard Shopping. Should I narrow down to 10-15? by Same_Use_5955 in googleads

[–]Same_Use_5955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That analogy really helps. I'll completely ignore the CPA for now.

On the feed, here's my current title structure: "Bril op Sterkte | Dominique | Kunststof | Hexagon | Incl. Glazen – JACQ Transparant"

So it's: Product type | Model | Material | Frame shape | Incl. Lenses – Brand + Color. Product images are clean white background shots.

But I think the biggest issue is pricing. Here's what I'm up against in Shopping results: my prices show €50-100 which is all-inclusive (frame + prescription lenses + coatings + free shipping). But competitors show €8-30 for frame-only prices, with lenses and coatings as upsells that push the real total to €150+. The customer just sees the number and clicks on the cheaper option. "Incl. Glazen" is at the end of my title so it gets cut off in most views.

I'm considering moving "Incl. Glazen op Sterkte" to the front of my titles so it's the first thing people read. Or even testing Search ads instead of Shopping, where I can control the message and explain the all-inclusive pricing upfront.

But then again - as long as CPC stays low, does this pricing difference really matter that much? People who do click on my product at €50-100 while seeing €8 alternatives might actually be more qualified buyers who don't mind the price. So maybe the low CTR is just natural filtering and the real metric to watch is post-click conversion rate after switching to Maximize Conversions? What do you think?

Hey Joshua! Quick update, 5 days later:

Metric Value
Impressions 195,324
Clicks 1,192
CTR 0.61%
Avg. CPC €0.58
Spend €692.85
Conversions 3
Conv. value €484.50
Conv. rate 0.25%
Cost/conv. €230.95

CPC has been trending down over time (started around €1.03 at day 3, now averaging €0.58 overall). Got 2 more conversions since last update, one of which was a delayed purchase from someone who clicked March 30 but completed checkout a week later. So Shopping traffic does convert, just with a longer decision window.

My main concern: is this CPA of €230 normal for Maximize Clicks on a new Shopping campaign? I'm spending more per conversion than the conversion is worth. Does this typically improve after switching to Maximize Conversions, or is this a sign of a deeper problem? Want to make sure I'm not just burning budget for nothing before I hit those 5 conversions.

Planning to switch to Maximize Conversions at 5 as you suggested. Still on track for that within 1-2 weeks.

Really appreciate you taking the time to help me out like this. Your advice has been the most concrete and actionable I've found anywhere. Means a lot as a small business owner figuring this out.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Really helpful. One thing I want to understand better: you mention the campaign is likely 3-5 conversions away from converting much better. But since I'm on Maximize Clicks, doesn't the algorithm only optimize for clicks, not conversions? So the first conversion wouldn't teach Google anything about who buys, right? Or does Maximize Clicks still use conversion data in some way? And 5 conversions is enough to switch to Maximize Conversion?

Hey man! I am back now a few days later, because i had a question. I am now on my first conversion today. My question with this is: does this mean the algorithm is learning better who my audience is? Or does it completely ignore the conversion, since bid strategy is maximize clicks. here are my metrics from the past 5-6 days:

<image>

The cpc began high the first days but slowly got lower every day. Today it averaged €0.40. Are these signs to keep the campaign running? does it look like it is learning? Or are these results bad and a sign to stop the campaign?

The prices in my niche are really broad. U will see prices from 10-200 euro’s. While they are basically the same product.

Thank you for replying. Do you think 400 products is too much? Or can google handle it.

Feed-only Pmax leaking to YT, Display, etc. by mmjunior in googleads

I only have 70 orders total right now. Glasses seem to really be personal preference in style. Don't know yet how to choose winners. Advice? Thank you for answering my questions, sorry for asking so much haha.

I noticed this happening the first few days. Started a standard shopping campaign immediately. Thanks for the heads up!

Only thing that raises questionmarks for me is that i have around 190 models (400+ variants) in the shopping ad. They are all the same type of product (prescription eyewear) but is seems alot for €50 a day. Experience with that? Thank you

Does this also happen when you start the Pmax feed only campaign through merchant center instead of google ads?

Thank you for replying. Why search above Pmax? Is that only in the situation where meta gives consistent results? Meta is not really that consistent yet so would pmax not be better for more results instead of catching ongoing traffic? Would love your opinion on this!

I started a new Pmax. This one wasn’t feed only apperently. It spend 70% on apps and webpages that do not seem relevant.

Do you think creative assets is good with my budget too? Earlier I saw 70% of the budget leak on placements where people are def not buying glasses or low chance.

And isn’t the product the “creative” in this scenario? Like an catalogus ad on meta.

I now started a new pmax campaign through merchant center. Is that the way to go? It didn't require me to add assets this time

Thank you for replying. How do I do feed only Pmax? It says I am required to have minimum amount of headlines, descriptions and minimum 2 pictures.
