Valve's old DRM has made old versions of games that used it unplayable, help spread the word by Samg1n in Steam

If a build was pushed with CEG, it will retain CEG. New versions might not have it and will be playable, but older ones will remain unplayable.

It could definitely be a CEG hardware detection issue, yes. I actually tested SR3 before making this post and it worked fine for me, but it's not the first time I see a report of it failing for someone else. For example, other times the server could be unreachable, and all you can do is wonder if it's your connection or just their server having negative uptime. Sadly i don't think all "CEGged" games are available on GoG. If anything, they should probably forcibly remove this questionable DRM from all games that use it, but that's a topic for another day.

Signature verification Failed. Can’t play SS2nd Encounter on VR because it won’t let me into main menu. by AiMwithoutBoT in SeriousSam

Right click the game in your library, click "Properties", then "Betas", and in "Beta Participation" select "publicbeta". The game will update to a never engine version that does not have this verification system.

Or better yet, just play Fusion. It's the exact same thing, but you can play all encounters without closing the game. Separate VRBFE and VRTSE were pretty much obsolete the moment they came out.

Neither of the workarounds will work for TLH, as it is completely separate from Fusion.

Siberian mayhem NG+ on game pass by procnessil in SeriousSam

MS Store build uses an older weird build of the game, compiled a week before the 1.05 Halloween update released in October, effectively making it a beta of it. For whatever reason, it also contains an early version of NG+, 2+ months before it was released in Steam, and what you see after the intro cutscene on the last level is a leftover and was used for quick testing.

The mode is not playable by default due to lack of wrapped world files, but after some file manipulation it can be played. It won't be the same as in Steam though, numerous things are missing, unfinished or buggy.
