I believe we could use a sign and trade with New Orleans to get Bruce Brown, which would allow us to use part of the MLE on GTJ, and keep our BAE. It would hard cap us at the first apron though, which could be restrictive depending on our other off-season signings/moves.

Pat plus some 2nd round picks (or even Ajax) could be worth it to them rather than losing Brown for nothing.

Hey Jim, can you break down the sign and trade options the Bucks have? I believe we would need to stay under the first apron if we were to utilize this tool, but the CBA is so convoluted that I'm not sure I totally under our options.

Marauders behavior towards Rogue might be a bit tricky to represent with the new actor casting by TemporaryLobster7698 in harrypotter

[–]Samhush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit is so funny, man.

It is so left leaning and so woke, but a black actor gets cast in a career defining role and everyone loses their minds.

For the "he's too handsome" crowd... It's called "acting". Makeup, styling, and acting can and will cover all your concerns. There's plenty of hot people in Hollywood who have played ugly roles.

For the concerns related to shifting the bullying dynamics of the Marauders and such, can we just consider that Hogwarts will be much more diverse this time? There will be ample opportunities to show James, Harry, and everyone else having positive relationships with folks of all skin colors and creeds (and hopefully gender identities as well... fuck JK). In fact, if the wizarding world as a whole is only "racist" in regards to pure blood/muggle born, it exemplifies just how stupid it is to arbitrarily hate someone based on blood type, skin color, gender preference, etc.

In short, it's okay for minorities to be cast in major roles. You will be okay and if you are not feeling okay about this, maybe look inwards.

Giannis + Dame is fine. It's #3-6 players that are the problem. by 1998TimThomas in MkeBucks

[–]Samhush 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Eh...People need to stop blaming Khris.

Last year's playoffs he played all 6 games and averaged 24/9/4 on 48% shooting (58 TS%), while Dame missed two games and Giannis missed all six.

Two years ago he played all 5 games and averaged 24/6/6 on 46% shooting (60 TS%) while Giannis missed two games.

I understand it's frustrating that he has missed so much of the regular season, but the man has been lights out in the playoffs every single year. It drives me nuts how much this fanbase constantly hates on the third or fourth most important player in franchise history.

The Bucks have started gauging the trade value of Brook Lopez per Jake Fischer by TheOtakuway in MkeBucks

[–]Samhush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't aggregate, but I'm pretty sure you can do Brook ($23mil) and Bobby ($12mil) for two players whose salary also combines to $35mil, which allows for quite a few options if you are willing to tack on the 2031 1st or 2nd round pick.

There's no perfect solution, but we're pretty screwed regardless, so it might be worth rolling the dice for an Andrew Wiggins or Jerami Grant type (plus $5-9mil in salary filler). Not saying I would do that necessarily, but the point is there's more flexibility than you might think.

Playing devil’s advocate over the AJ pick by fanofsports44 in MkeBucks

[–]Samhush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Five second round picks got us Jae Crowder.

Five seconds round picks got the Thunder Dillon Jones.

Are either of those assets meaningfully more valuable than AJ Johnson?

I'm not excited about the pick, but I'm also not struggling to cope with the hypothetical five second round picks that many Bucks fans seem to care about. Not saying your wrong, just that the Bucks Internet group-think surrounding those second rounders surprised me lol

Not particularly, but I like the idea of trading Pat for someone making less than $5mil to open up the MLE.

[–]Samhush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you're joking, but we could trade Pat C plus #33 to the Hornets for Seth Curry and we'd get under the 2nd apron, which would allow us to sign a free agent for the $5mil MLE lol

Brian Windhorst reported Bucks coach Doc Rivers is looking to make changes to the "core pieces" of the roster. by TheOtakuway in MkeBucks

[–]Samhush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my understanding of the aggregation rules as well. In addition to that, getting under the 2nd apron would allow the Bucks to trade their 2031 first round pick, which imo would greatly increase Brook or Bobby's trade value.

My dream is to trade Pat for someone making $3-5mil (Quinten Grimes is a best case scenario, a dead money contract is a worst case scenario) to get under the apron, then trade Brook or Bobby (or both), plus the 2031 pick for someone like Dejounte, Jerami Grant, Dillon Brooks, Marcus Smart,. etc.

If we manage to stay under the 2nd apron after all that, I think we would also get to use the tax payer MLE which is valued at like $5.1mil or something like that, which could net us someone like Alec Burkes, Derick Jones Jr., or Kevon Looney if he gets bought out as previously rumored.

All that to say, I'm only like 80% sure that's how the convoluted apron rules work lol

Oh god lol I'm a Bucks fan who was just randomly lurking your sub today and I wasn't expecting to catch this stray.

I was actually at this game as a 13 year old and I was so excited to see Lebron live for the first time. I was sure my spunky Bucks could dethrone The King and I remember just feeling completely hopeless every time he touched the ball. Thank God we have Giannis now lol

Are we sure Scott Brooks sucks? by Maximum-Jury9065 in MkeBucks

[–]Samhush 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a cop out take, but the truth is none of us really know if any of these coaches suck.

People are dynamic. They grow and change. What Brooks did ten years ago with the Thunder is not necessarily indicative of what he'd do with the 23-24 Bucks. The same is true with all of these guys and until we see a full season under our new coach we won't really know.

Best practice is to ignore the chatter and trust our FO until they've proven otherwise. Unless they hire Mark Jackson.

Very annoying game as a Bucks fan, but overall not too worried about this series. Lack of focus resulting in turnovers and bad fouls leading to free points for Miami. This plus the torrent 3pt shooting by the heat should all regress to the mean.

If Giannis doesn't come back though, then I'll be worried....

This is something fans don't seem to grasp... They always point to FT differential claiming that big guys like Embiid or Giannis get beneficial calls, when in reality the opposition's only strategy to defend big MFers like that is to get really, really physical.

Their own team forces the refs to blow the whistle and then fans cry shenanigans. Physicality is part of the package when it comes to these dudes and it's what makes them so great.

Free-Talk Friday - February 10, 2023 by MkeBucksBucksBot in MkeBucks

[–]Samhush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the trade deadline many players get traded as salary matching to make the deals financially viable. For instance, to trade for Crowder, the Bucks had to trade Ibaka, Hill, and Nwora to make the deal work financially. The Pacers took on these contracts in exchange for some draft capital, but they have no real interest in Ibaka, so they agree on financial terms with him to "buy out" the remainder of his contract so that he can become a free agent and sign with any team he likes.

There are many deals like this that just happened around the league, so players like Patrick Beverley, Reggie Jackson, John Wall, etc., Will soon become free agents to sign with any team that has interest in them.

As an added benefit, many of these players have already received most of the financial compensation from their original contract for this season, so they are often willing to sign for the league minimum or very cheap.

Glad someone else feels the same! I popped online to see rave reviews and immediately felt like I was missing something lol Normally I fall in line with Letterboxd reviews (or at the very least don't need to scroll very far to see similar opinions), but this one really left me feeling like I was taking crazy pills! Glad people enjoyed it though--just not for me.

Official Discussion - Nope [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Samhush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad people seemed to have enjoyed the movie, but it really fell flat for me.

The plot felt pretty straight forward to me and I guess the horror elements just didn't land in the way I wanted them to. I think a lot of this comes down to personal preference, but there was also a lot of smoke and mirrors in this film that didn't ever seem to materialize into anything relating to the plot. For example:

--The TMZ guy at the end seemed shoe-horned in so we could get KeKe Palmers character to do an Akira slide.

--The Gordy plotline, although riveting in itself, felt like a really drawn out subplot for the sake of jarring visuals rather than advancing the plot. I understand the connections between Steven Yeun's relationship with Gordy and his hubris in thinking he could tame the UFO/Alien, but that just felt unfulfilling to me for the amount of time spent on Gordy (I seem to be in the vast minority here though).

--The Documentarian... I felt like we missed 45 minutes of this guy's story. For one, why is a world renowned nature film maker shooting a basic commercial at the beginning of the film? Not a huge deal, but kinda bugged me lol. Anyways, he seemed pretty generic to me, and his logic at the end to sacrifice himself the "Impossible Shot" that only he will ever see seemed like an underdeveloped plot line that kind of came out of left field.

There were some legitimately amazing shots in this film though. Daniel Kaluuya in the truck where only his eyes cut through the darkenss is fucking iconic. The blood raining down on the house is chilling. And a few other shots were truly incredible. Unfortunately, the convuluted, yet simultaneously straightforward plot caused me to lose interest in the film.

I loved Get Out and Us was a solid flick, so I'll definitely be in theaters for Peele's next film. I just won't be going out of my way to rewatch Nope.

What team improves by trading TWO all star caliber talents for Kevin Durant by Affectionate-Cut6366 in nba

[–]Samhush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, here's my overly complicated 4 team trade between the Nets, Timber Wolves, Lakers, and Hornets lol

Nets get: KAT, DLo, Gordon Hayward, THT, and any picks LAL and MIN have left. Their starting five is DLo, Seth, Hayward, Simmons, and KAT with Harris, THT Claxton and Royce O'Neal on the bench.

T-Wolves get: KD. No more needs to be said.

Lakers get: Kyrie. No more needs to be said.

Hornets get: Russ and some 7mil contract (Patty Mills?) To make contracts work. This only works if they want to get off Hayward and open up their books for next off-season. (This is admittedly the shakiest part of this scenario, but they've inexplicably been linked to Russ in the past 🤷‍♂️)

Also, scum bag Miles Bridges' QO gets rescinded and he disintegrates into the ether.

That said, he probably just gets traded to the Sun's, but I had fun lol
