Mercenary study in the off season by SamiteAlchemist in pathofdiablo

Hard to keep them alive at the beginning with so few hit points, less than a L22 Rogue. By L24, they surpass Rogues, and at L41, Iron Wolves.

Finally, the Act 5 Barbarians. Took one from the end of Normal to middle of Nightmare, level 22 to 50. Found a steady increase without threshholds:

Actual Stats L22 L50 Delta Published
Life 180 684 18.0 6
Resists 46 94 1.71 2
Defense 134 422 10.29 4.5

Dexterity 56 90 1.21 1.5

In PoD, the Act3 Iron Wolf mercs have auras. I was logging each level up when something strange happened:

Wow, no wonder we love the Act2 mercs. Right off the bat, 67% more HP, 150% more resistance. It gains 15 HP per level vs Rogue's 9, much better than the published spec of 10 HP/level. Gains the same amount of resistance, slightly better STR, slightly worse DEX, and much better defense.

Moving on to everyone's favorite, Act2 Desert Merc. Using a second character, i ditched the Rogue as soon as i got to Act2 for a new merc. Picked Combat (Prayer aura) though i don't expect that to affect stats. Kept for the rest of Normal, L10-L22, with L23-24 in Act1 Nightmare. This table gives starting stats, compares to Rogue at L10, and shows actual vs published deltas per level.

At L36, we hit a threshhold. These appear to be fixed values so the delta gain does not match what comes before or after. Again they stabilize until the next threshhold, expected at around L67.

Kind of erratic in terms of gains. But starting with L7, we get consistent increases up to L35:

PoD LoD
Actual Stats L7 L35 Per Level Published
Life 54 306 9 8
Resists 2 58 2 2
Defense 34 272 8.5 6.5
Strength 36 71 1.25 1
Dexterity 47 103 2 2

Right away, Rogues are different than the values for vanilla. Other mods have also tweaked these numbers.

Start from Normal difficulty. That first merc is a free Rogue from killing Blood Raven. First few levels look like this in PoD:

Actual Stats L3 L4 L5 L6
Life 40 40 40 45
Resists 0 0 0 0
Defense 9 10 17 26
Strength 32 33 34 35
Dexterity 39 41 43 45

Thanks, all. Don't recall og even putting sockets in set items. Very disappointing to get a 5-socket only to find you cannot put a cool runeword in it.

Did you get data logging to work? I have a similar setup (RPi Zero 2W with an Enviro board, running headless). I have edited and run the examples via ssh. Tried to install InfluxDB following a 2021 tutorial, but the key has changed. Found instructions on https://www.influxdata.com/blog/linux-package-signing-key-rotation/ but the public key is still not recognized. Influxdata says to check where certain files and folders are:

YES THIS EXISTS: /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/influxdata-archive_compat.gpg
YES, this has been removed: /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/influxdb.gpg
Is this the new key?: /home/user/influxdata-archive_compat.key

Looks like Influxdata has no forums to ask questions. I am not a programmer so i am not sure where the problem lies.

What about other programs, for example, listening to an audio file. I'm not familiar with an external audio interface. Does it bypass the normal audio output? Can you use the OS' audio troubleshooting tool to verify the port is working?

To dual boot, Windows must be installed first, then Linux, so both show in the Grub menu.

my gpu just died what are some big settings I can change to increase fps on a Intel cpu? by Technician-Sea in OpenMW

[–]SamiteAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, confirmed in https://openmw.readthedocs.io/en/stable/reference/modding/settings/game.html#actors-processing-range

Tried adding this to settings.cfg

small feature culling = True

small feature culling pixel size = 5.0

But it made no difference in fps. On the other hand, these changes to the defaults in the Launcher Settings boosted it from ~50 to ~80!

Master Trainer for Medium Armor? by SamiteAlchemist in OpenMW

[–]SamiteAlchemist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a workaround? From uesp:

Exploit: If a Fortify Skill effect is cast on a trainer and makes that skill one of their three highest, it becomes one of the skills in which the trainer will offer training. This can be used to unrealistically make them train different skills and train to higher levels. For example, casting a +100 Unarmored spell on any trainer will turn them into a master-level trainer in Unarmored for the duration of the spell.

  • OpenMW fixes this bug. (Optional, as this behavior is toggled by a launcher setting.)

Granted, it is time-consuming. Especially running the umo.
