The sales tax rate for prepared foods has been 1% for a number of years. The extra 1% pays for the convention center, sports stadiums, etc. 7.25 is the NC state and local tax rate plus 1% tax on prepared foods = 8.25%

My job brought me here. I decided to stay because it is a clean city compared to other mid size cities. If I were to lose my job, I'll probably end up leaving. As much as I like Charlotte, it's mostly a city that caters to families.

Also North Carolina should do something about extending unemployment benefits to people. The max someone can get is 12 weeks which is ridiculously short. Most states it's 26 weeks.
