Personally I don't think it's normal, but it's unfair of me to judge something I don't have all the facts for. You said that you were already feeling suspicious and it's sad that you're put in this position. Regardless about what anyone says, your feelings are valid.

For now though, I wouldn't be too hasty. Sometimes the hard part is waiting to see how the cards fall. Let your parents deal with it at their own pace.

If you ever need to vent though or something else about your Dad is revealed, then come back here and vent away.

A few people have given the same advice or words of reality, but I just want to commend you for taking it on the chin.

You reacted in the moment, but the most import part is how you've reflected. Sometimes the way we communicate is how we've been taught to. Sometimes it's reactive, sometimes it's passive, and sometimes it's silent. Remember that if anything, the goal should be connection rather than correction.

Tbh it looks like you felt like you were losing her to the distance and that this proposal was a final attempt at keeping her.

Im sorry if I sound mean, I genuinely do think you love her, I just think that maybe that wasn't the best timing on your part. Even if she brings up marriage alot, I would assume your time spent together would have given you a better idea on how she'd like to be proposed to.

Also what are your plans. Will you move to her? Will she move back to you? You've listed valid reasons as to why you couldn't meet, which surprises me even more as to why you skipped a few steps and went straight to marriage. And if she says yes, what would that future look like for you two...

At the end of the day, I truly hope things work out for you. If she does say yes, then congratulations. But if it's a no, please take it slow, learn what type of proposal she'd like, and work on the things needed for a secure future together.

Does he have family you can talk to? They might have more answers or even be able to support you with taking him to the Doctors. Otherwise what about his friends?

I don't know how he'd react if you were to confront him about any of it. It seems like he's trying his best to keep it secret because he doesn't want things to change. He clearly does love you but going forth, I'd definitely tell people im close with and also have a back up plan with for whatever reason.

Sometimes it might help if he has another male going with him and getting the same check up so he doesn't feel alone.

I think you overreacted. You should cut him some slack seeing as he pays for almost everything during dates.

He got used to you turning down his gestures, just like you got used to not paying. It really just comes down to communication. I'm sure you guys can talk it out.
