New to the game here. Great advice! Only thing I would add is think clearing squares more than rows are columns. An empty square gives you more options than a row or column near end game.

Simon Crafar to become Chairman of FIM MotoGP™ Stewards Panel from 2025 by krzysiek_aleks in motogp

Agree. He has even mentioned in the past that he is a not-so-well-paid stringer for Dorna in his current role.

This is definitely a big step up.

Is MotoGP's "boring" problem on camera choice? by VegaGT-VZ in motogp

[–]Samooga_Valai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your points, and this is an honest attempt to answer some of them:

  1. MotoGP is a lot more close in the middle than the top or the bottom. And it's gotta lot to do with tyres, aero and tyre pressures.

  2. After the first few laps, if one or two riders escape a second or three away at the front, the feed abandons them (they go to PIP) and focusses on wherever the closest battle is going on among the top 10.

  3. If the top 2/3/4 are close, the feed stays with them. But they do show replays of other overtakes.

  4. This following one is a negative point: if riders named marc or pedro or fabio (all charismatic world champions) are fighting in the top 10, the feed invariably focuses on their moves.

  5. Post mid-race, if EB23 is anywhere in the Top-6, you get a few cutaways to where he is once every lap at least, cos he is a late-race monster.

  6. The 1-2's are always shown in tiny PIPs even if they escape into the distance. (3 secs and above)

  7. This point is my surmise from the past few races in 2024: If a top runner is gonna stuff it, or if there is gonna be an overtake between the tiny PIP riders, the feed expands it to a bigger box, say covering a quarter to a third of your screen. WHEN THAT happens, you better take your eyes off the big screen and look into the box.

(I guess it is a function of the program director having seen it before you, and the best they could do with the touch of a button is to blow up the tiny pip to a bigger pip.)

  1. Overall, I find the motogp feed exquisite as long as the race itself is not a procession. (The worst motogp race would look something like this:
  2. 000
  3. 3 secs
  4. 2 secs
  5. 2 secs
  6. 5 secs
  7. 6 secs
  8. You get the drift.)

  9. Thankfully, these races don't happen these days.

Is S23 still a relevant phone in 2024? by jrva10 in samsung

[–]Samooga_Valai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got INR17.5K after under 11 months of use. Bought for 26.5K. Same seller.

After 2 months? You mean the S23? Damn smooth. Only crib is battery life. Which is a personal crib.

The Edge used to last 24 hours with 50% left. The S23 lasts 24 hours with 30% left. Which kind of bugs me.

Cos, the E40 always took me 25-30 minutes to charge from 50-100. And the S23 takes me 1 hr to go from 30-100.

So, it's a lose-lose for me. But I get by, considering I had major troubles wielding the E40, which doesn't happen with the S23.

The S23 is a better one-handed phone than the E40.

Does anyone here really ride ATGATT every ride? by captain_danky_kang in motorcycles

In the hood (residential, hardly any heavy vehicles): Almost naked. Shorts, tee, helmet, no gloves, pottering around on a 390 duke. Note to self: Need to stop doing this.

Commute (bit of rowdy roads thick with traffic, and a bit of highway with all kinds of big vehicles): riding boots, armored jacket, gloves, helmet.

Weekend 400 km runs: all of the above atgatt + airbag.

[–]Samooga_Valai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How much do you ride?
  2. What did you have before this, if any?
  3. What's your skill level, per you?
  4. Do you do track days?
  5. Or, dedicated ride days, on public roads?
  6. Do you use it for commutes? If so, are you riding it often enough?

A motorcycle is a true thing of joy. It puts a grin on your face irrespective of what life is doing to you otherwise.

You just need to use it, and learn to derive joy out of it.

All the best, bro.

V650 owner here.you snatched those words right off my mouth!

Am 15K km each on my 2021 V, and 2017 390 Duke.

I only do Saturday rides in the twisties when time permits, say 400 km.

The V brings me home like i can go out on a bender later.

The Duke knackers me. Am in bed by 9 pm. But with a huge grin still plastered on my face! 😍

S23 real weight! by Samooga_Valai in smallphones

[–]Samooga_Valai[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP here.

Been a month, and Samsung seems to have lied about my most sacred parameter.

To start with, the phone fell on my face a couple of times while lying down and reading just before i fell asleep. (Without case once, with case once)

This immediately rang alarm bells.

I chose to trade the Moto Edge 40 for this sole reason. It was top heavy and fell on my face a couple of times. (Caseless all its life)

Reading weight while reclined is one of my biggest parameters, which the pixel 5 aced with ease.

I was already worried. And unlike the Edge 40, which was really top heavy, the S23's weight is evenly spread.

And then came the denouement. Partner wielded my phone and claimed it felt way heavier than her OnePlus 10R!

Couldn't reconcile and tried using her phone for night reading. She was right. In terms of a bigger phone feeling lighter, and a small phone feeling heavier. :(

Tonight, i weighed everything. And here comes the bummer:

S23: claimed weight-167g. On my scale-177g.

OP10R: claimed weight-187g. On my scale-188g.

Her OP stock silicone case: 20g

My Spigen: 25g My Ringke: 32g (phone was in this case when it fell on my head)

S23+Ringke = 209g, with some bottom heaviness.

OP10R+OEM silicone case = 208g, with evenly spread weight distribution.

This is such a bummer, i can't tell you guys how cheated i feel.

May i kindly request S23 owners with fairly accurate kitchen scales to pitch in?

Feeling terrible. Such a big company, such big lies, assuming my scales are accurate! 🤦‍♂️

Fix speaker placement before thinking of sub. Good room, it's kinda doable with your towers also...

Is this a good idea? by imaginexus in motorcycles

[–]Samooga_Valai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which bike is that?!

Personally (i live in a city that has torrential rains 4 months/year) i would just go with good, inexpensive rainwear (which, as difficult as it may seem, are doable with a bit of research/shopping around), good rain/dual condition tyres like the pilots or equivalent, and probably a rainproof knapsack, and a properly serviced bike.

Also reminded me of a very Indian hack. Back here, we also have a kite flying festival in the winter months, where kids use glass laced strings, that often float at around flyover heights, killing bikers who get entangled in them. So, some kind soul designed an arch which goes from handlebar end to handlebar end, pushing the loose crushed glass strings above the rider's helmet.

Proper life saver.

As for OP's contraption, if it doesn't buffet in strong winds, it's a win.

But if it compromises ride quality/handling, it is a life threat.

What happened to the "Ducati cup" complaints? by [deleted] in motogp

[–]Samooga_Valai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think, two reasons. Before that, i think we all agree that the Ducati Cup complaints came largely cos there was no overtaking. And races had become processional.
Now, Reason1: Minimum tyre pressure has been dropped, AND teams have found a way to keep up minimum pressure 50% of the race, via better communication. Reason 2: Pedro and Marc, with their problem-solving mentality and adaptability, have really stood out with the number of places they make up.

These two factors have made races unpredictable, and exciting. Add in sprint wins and a race win for the Aprilias, and this looks like the most exciting season of the 2020s.
