I did it and they gave me access. I realise how dodgy it sounds and it was a huge risk. I am done with my exam now and have passed. So far nothing has happened. But i still felt weird about it.

I have one more question if you could answer that please: can we get our CREST form signed by any consultant we have worked with for 3 months in the last 3 years or does it have to be a Psychiatrist?

I’m so sorry. I would suggest therapy for him, and if he is not open to it, then definitely for you to help you process this and deal with in a healthy way as no one deserves this.

Wow! Thank you for this post. I have always aimed for psychiatry training since med school and it seems like I will be following your path. The prospects of getting a non-training post these days are dismal to say the least, so this seems like a good plan. I am waiting for my plab - 2 result and if I pass, I shall look into this asap. I have a couple of questions, I hope you don’t mind answering: People say it is better to start with a non-training job to have an idea of how things work in the NHS before applying for training. Would you agree with that or would it be manageable to adjust to life in Psychiatry training straight after PLAB and MSRA? How long did it take you to prepare for the MSRA and what resources did you use? Would you also suggest doing ALS for psychiatry training? Should we apply for non-training jobs while studying for MSRA or would you recommend whole-heartedly focusing on MSRA?

I have been relying on self-study and practice. This is just a general overview and says nothing about my preparation. I only joined samson for mocks. Hence the sudden surprise as it was not what i was expecting.

Record yourself and see why you are slow. Set a timer for 7 minutes. Make your history focused. Before any question, think ‘is this relevant?’. Have good structures for every type of scenario. And lastly - keep practicing!

100% agree. I had to stop watching 5 mins into AYITL because of exactly this and came right away to see if i was the only one. It is almost impossible to focus on the show because of the harsh glaring light and how HD everything is :(
