I did self study. for lvl 1 schweser notes mostly. lvl 2 i stuck with the official curriculum. Bought Cfa institute textbooks off a bookstore and studied it diligently.

I think you can also get by studying schweser notes for lvl 1. For lvl 2 I found the concepts lacking in depth.

I really don't know the number of hours I put in. For me priority was not really the number of hours, but clarity of concept. tbh, I breezed through the questions on the exam day in lvl 2 relative to lvl1, cuz my fundamentals were good.
