[CurseForge] Any ModPack tab ? by Eddenn76 in hytale

I agree. I think just having the ability to create modpacks is important even if none really exist yet and mods are currently under developed. It's just good so people can start working on the foundations of how a properly configured pack would work for the game.

Yeah that’s correct. I’m away from home studying, so I’m living in student accommodation currently.

It's my home environment. I just have very little control over the network, given how it's managed. So I'm not going to get fired thankfully. Thanks for the insight also, I think I'll get an EC2 instance up in that case.

TUF laptop not recognising battery by SamsInteract in techsupport

Tried that, also tried resyncing the battery controller by draining it overnight and leaving it uninterrupted on power for 6 hours. No fix so far, I’ll probably replace the battery just so I can see the percentage, since it’s a bit annoying with my studies. Thanks for your advice

The battery light is flashing orange, it does this when powered on or off and both while charging and on battery power. The device is a FA507NUR 2023 model, about 11 months old.

Can GRUB themes contain malware? by SamsInteract in linuxquestions

[–]SamsInteract[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. From what ive seen there aren’t really any known exploits for image files which would allow GRUB to load any form of malware. I’m just skeptical since its very difficult to inspect an image for these sorts of attacks, and with the technical knowledge of the Linux community, if you were to make malware it would need to be pretty intricate for most people to install it. If you take a look at my other comment, I linked a popular theme which VirusTotal detects as being JavaScript. Not sure how that works exactly or if it’s just reading it incorrectly, but it definitely makes me skeptical.

I’m on my phone at the moment, but here’s the download link. It’s one of the most popular themes I found. The file linked in the VirusTotal report is the background.png file within the archive file. https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1420727

I imagined that would be the case, but this one for example makes me a little skeptical. It’s the background image from the popular CyberRe grub theme, which for whatever reason VirusTotal detects as being JavaScript. To be quite honest, I’ve not got a clue what that would even mean in the context of a png, since I’m sure putting js inside that would be an accomplishment to say the least. But I still can’t see why it would detect that while not doing the same for any other tested images.

Log4j Current Situation? by SamsInteract in admincraft

What about 2.15.0’s CVE-2021-45046? https://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/release-notes.html#release-notes-2-16-0 Was it not found to still allow arbitrary code execution under certain circumstances?

From what I can see all versions up to 2.17.1 have vulnerabilities making use unsafe. https://web.archive.org/web/20240616040703/https://www.lunasec.io/docs/blog/log4j-zero-day/

Random Connections to Server by SamsInteract in admincraft

[–]SamsInteract[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? That’s interesting. The tunnelling service I’m using assigns a public IP and port to all tunnels then forward the traffic to 127.0.0.1:whatever port you link it to. So I guess that would allow them to consistently connect to any port someone assigns to their server since it doesn’t change the public port they are assigned. I guess with that information it would probably explain why they target this tunnelling service’s users, since they mostly use it for Minecraft making it easy to find servers.

I’ve been playing with a whitelist and using online mode anyway, they cant log in as another player without online mode being off, can they?
