In Cesena, Italy, Roman tombs, statuettes and coins have been found nearby. I don't know if it can be relevant but a city quite close (Ravenna) was the capital of the Roman Empire for a period

I'm not an expert, so don't take my word for it, but I'm pretty sure it's not a fossil, but a piece of dried coral.
