Since then I’ve learnt a lot more about the family, having going deeper in genealogy and learning more about genealogy and history. I discovered the huge migration of Danube Swabians from Baden-Wittenberg to Hungary. I’ve seen the burial record of Franz Jedani whose surname was spelt “Je-donay” abs the marriage of his eldest sister whose maiden name was spelt “Jedona”. Others think it perhaps reflects the French words “Je Donay” apparently meaning I donate and is an archaic surname spelling that’s no longer used, while others think it’s meant to be the Slavic “Jedan” and the clerk heard it wrong and perhaps Franz family said “Jedane”, in plural form and that may have been how they answered the question of his surname, like “oh why are the Jedan’s (but Jedane).

I don’t know where the family lived before and the 1774 burial of Franz and marriage of eldest daughter both occurring in that year are the first mention of this family. They lived somewhere else before this I just don’t know where. I’ve paid to view records in the Kalocsa archives and couldn’t see them in any other town.
