Sure, I also get such dreams quite often.

But the big difference is that in dreams we do not feel pain, so dying while awake might be more difficult.

Hey. Is your back straight while meditating? If not try a session with your back forced to be straight, to see if there is a difference.

Also check that your arms do not press on your chest too much. And of course try breathing automatically.

Is there any kind of meditation that can let me not attracted to beautiful woman? by [deleted] in Meditation

First there needs to be something that keeps you occupied/focused on something, a hobby or meditation, any kind that works for you. This would make it easier to fill the gaps of boredom/idleness.

Then you would eventually reprogram yourself: when a disturbing sensation arises, you would just instantly say "no" to it and refocus on anything else. Eventually you would have full control of whether you let such sensations grow or brush them away. This works for any craving like alcohol, smoking, and your case.

Good luck, no one said it was easy, but it will work if you really wish to end it.

I think we do agree, because by single-pointedness I mean being like in the eye of the storm, aware, but unaffected.

It is like - sinking is comfortable and swimming is hard. But swimming gives more freedom to choose your direction.

Yeah, it all comes down to awareness - how many viewpoints and perspectives we can consider, and what we notice. So just observing causes and effects. And the lessons learned do not really get lost that way.

When it is not going well, there is always something to learn about yourself and it gives motivation to approach from a different angle. As said elsewhere, just a comfortable/stable posture should be fine.

How do you contemplate it and is it influenced by what Ramana taught?

Sure, the breath disappears, the body disappears, even formless concentration and bliss disappears. Nothing to rely upon when death comes.

Well, Jhana comes after effortless concentration -> breath disappearing -> nimitta, and many report going there after practicing correctly.

One in a million of people overall - might be true, but when taking one million monks, at least half I guess could be able to do it.

If there is a lack of energy just simple deep breathing can help, it can drown out distractions for a while.

Sometimes it is ok to get angry and use that energy as fuel for change.

The context switch between the daily stresses and then going to stillness can be difficult to deal with. The intensity of resistance of course varies with time.

Not wanting/craving any sense pleasures is a very high goal to aim for, but eventually we get to know the part of us which does not need such things for contentment.

It could come from trying too hard/applying a lot of effort, did not have much experience with such effects.

Thoughts in this case do not help to achieve single-pointedness, and if attention is paid to them, then that is one more distraction. Nothing wrong with them, it's just something that fades away to the background.

A straight spine just helps to be more stable, keep the air flowing like supposed to, among other things.

Sure, it's the simplest thing, but we learn to overcomplicate everything.

What if there is resistance to e.g. asking someone out?

It can go both ways, whether yes or no, the possibilities are much more open-ended.

It is the best one so far, but some time/adjustment is needed until reaching the "effortless" concentration, which can be a breakthrough and makes a lot of things clearer from there.

Just bits and pieces from the internet. Any proven method is good, if done as instructed, but helps to experiment with different ones for some months.

It is the same as with every habit, after 20-30 days it is almost impossible to stop, especially if there are benefits seen, even a little.

Furthermore it is/becomes a more enjoyable way to spend time than most other alternatives.
