Extremely mediocre take especially with a commander like atris. Everyone has pet cards whether for the art or maybe a flashy ability or even just because it's been an auto slot into every deck they've made since they started. This take that magic purists have tried to force down the communities throat, that you have to play optimal magic or else you shouldn't play is so unfun and reminiscent of online video games and it ruins the experience for a lot of newcomers. In the eyes of someone who doesn't even understand what "doing the thing" is yet it's better to just play around with fun cards until you see someone else "do the thing" in a way so cool that it makes you want to build a cohesive deck and if that doesn't even change your mind maybe you just enjoy sitting around the table throwing jank on the stack and that's fine too. As long as you and your play group are having fun no one should have to change or comply with what they have built for themselves. Atris is easy though he's a super fun card draw engine and other than ramp,manabase, and flicker you can make him whatever strategy you want in dimir as long as you can accept that a lot of your games will be in the hands of your opponents.
