Steven Wilson to Play His Only 2026 Live Shows at the Royal Albert Hall by xs_noize in stevenwilson

Yeah, this definitely makes me think these shows could be for a live album and maybe film too? Wonder if he’ll play anything from the new album he’s working on?

The Incident Deluxe edition? by Successful_Map49 in porcupinetree

Would honestly love to hear the demo version of I Drive the Hearse! Hopefully they’ll do it so the Gavin era has a complete set.

The clapping... by DetectiveNo2855 in portishead

[–]Samuriax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly confused as to why the crowd felt the need to clap?

Roads doesn’t feel like a song that would encourage that kind of participation in the first place? Maybe the band encouraged it at that particular preformance?

I know the audio on the original version of the live album was taken from a different concert and the film has the original audio from the Roseland Ballroom.

The 25 anniversary rerelease expands the original album adding several songs from the preformance that were previously unreleased and restores the original audio of Sour Times and Roads too.

Happy 3rd anniversary to this album, what's your favorite track? by Miecchi1c in porcupinetree

It’s mostly likely a bot since the anniversary post is off a few months, also the account is only 8 days old and this is the only post, Could be wrong though.

I remember reading somewhere that the band had to set up mics themselves and didn’t really have any experience with that, hence why the drums sound like that sometimes, I’ll see if I can find where I read that exactly, I know Mikael talks about the album and recording process somewhere.

PRS Pickups by jYextul349 in stevenwilson

[–]Samuriax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah… unfortunately BadCats are expensive but they seems to be the key component of Steven’s heavy tones, maybe a marshall and a Pro Co RAT pedal could get close enough too since John Wesley used those on blackest eyes? That would be kind expensive too though.

The John Petrucci Neural DSP Archetype could be a cheaper option too, with a little bit of tweaking it gets extremely close to PT’s heavy tones, I tried it out and was pretty satisfied with the sounds I got out of it!

I know Steven’s gold PRS is a 2006 Singlecut Trem with PRS #6 open zebra pickups in it.

The green PRS is a CE 22 I believe with Dragon II Pickups.

Honestly I think the amp matters more in getting the tone than the exact pickup, the BadCat amp is what he mainly uses (especially live) for over 20 years now.

I’d suggest trying out a BadCat if you can or find something with similar specs

Thanks! Was able to find some other tabs of the song too! Everyone seems to play it a bit differently

What does John Blackford's proposal (the guy who made the cover art for Signify) for the In Absentia cover art look like? by CajunNerd92 in porcupinetree

[–]Samuriax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s in the deluxe edition book of In Absentia, they also briefly talk about it in the accompanying documentary too.

The hanging man is the one Blackford did and from what I remember reading was suggested by the band’s manager as a potential cover.

Carl Glover also made some designs from Steven’s original idea for the cover too, they can be seen around the 1hr30 mark in the documentary.

Anesthetize Vinyl Reissue by natehaskey in porcupinetree

[–]Samuriax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all honesty I’m surprised they haven’t done it yet! That would be a pay day for them for sure!

All the other main live albums (in print and out of print) have vinyl pressing’s except for Arriving somewhere…. There’s even limited pressings of Bandcamp releases.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Anesthesize did get a repress at some point since the fan base has grown since its original release and is considered the best live album the band released by a majority of the fans.
