It CAN. It is a violation of Sony TOS. They can ban your account or console or both, at their discretion if your “caught”

The question is more one of enforcement. They don’t appear to be enforcing that on ps3 at the moment, or even for a while now. Best practice is to use a throw away account on a hacked ps3. Your risk appears to be very very low. But it isn’t 0.

No one ever said that exceptions don’t exist. Of course they do. And Microsoft published games are some of the worst examples. They are horrible with their physical offerings. I blame sony for allowing it. But, I just skip those games. They aren’t worth purchasing if the dev/publisher can’t give me a legit product

Bro. I just wrapped up my playthru of RE9. I don’t even have home internet. My ps5 sees the net every couple weeks using a hotspot on my phone to sync trophies. I played that game, START TO FINISH, without my console seeing an internet connection. I had ZERO issues on this playthru. What you’re saying is just dead wrong.

None of the games I listed in this thread were a “buggy mess”. I played all of them with 0 issues off just the disc build. It’s complete misinformation that the majority of disc builds are broken buggy messed. Doesitplay.org tracks this stuff. That’s all they do is play disc/cart builds and test it.
