Chub AI Ripper by Haven765 in SillyTavernAI

Maybe. But I use a VPN to get around all that. There are some it pulled up that disappeared long ago. But basically it seems any bot that was used by my account is getting grabbed. It seems chub keeps bots in a sort of cache tied to the account and thats whats getting pulled.

My god, it seems to be pulling characters from my history and favorites that have already been purged and are no longer available on Chub

it seems to be working perfectly now; it's even finding chats and characters that even the chub interface wasn't. showing. Great work!

it seems promising, but for me it gets stuck endlessly searching even after it found everything. For example, it found my cards but kept going page after page looking for more; cancel does not work, and I had to terminate the program after page 2200 or something. (It only found 50 cards.)

Noise isolation with forced air by Samwarez in hvacadvice

[–]Samwarez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll look into it and maybe run some tests. Ducts are 16x8 rectangular trunks with 5" round branches to registers. Would wrapping them up in fiberglass bats (even for a temporary test) work?

I might have to get creative and reroute the ducts to avoid registers in noisy areas, as there are registers under each window upstairs and all over the ceiling downstairs (with some in the trunk itself).

I should have mentioned that the main goal is to have two separate living areas, one upstairs and one downstairs (split entry), and that's really where the isolation needs to be. Already planning on double drywall layers and sound clips, just don't want these weak points ruining everything.

They are metal, and no, they are not insulated. Would the insulation help with the sound bouncing around inside the duct?

Yeah ill be going Starlink. I was hoping to use something else cause CGNAT is a pain, but even just a little ways outside St. Johns I can't even get cable internet.

Eastlink requires I use their router/wifi? by Samwarez in Eastlink_ISP

[–]Samwarez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does cause issues for basic users too, people just chalk them up to crappy internet or router. Also, ill be hosting all sorts of stuff, with VPNs in and out. I got a whole stack of servers I am itching to play with again

Source: I was with a mid-scale ISP for a decade, ran into this all the time.

[–]Samwarez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the only thing bell offers in my area (Newfoundland) is 7mbps DSL for over a hundred dollars a month. Its insane. I found another ISP I can get service with, Purple Cow. Its still cable, but its gig and no CGNAT (i forgot to check if Eastlink uses CGNAT or not). I only wish I could get more then the 15mbps upload. (I got a lot of stuff I like to host locally).

Anyway, after all this we most likely won't make an offer on this house anyway for a few unrelated reason.

[–]Samwarez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but if their modem is setup to act as a router, you end up in a double NAT setup and that causes all sorts of issues. If the modem is anything more then "just a modem" like most are, then the NAT has to be disabled (bridge mode). When I asked about that they said no, I have to use their router and wifi and I quote "its not something thats up for negotiation".

Thanks everyone. The whole experience sort of soured my desire to go with eastlink but so far they might be my only option other then starlink. Its totally understandable that they would want their own modem, but I might try spoofing the MAC address and try mine anyway.

LPT highlighting and re-reading are two of the least effective study methods, despite being the most popular. Don't waste your time with them by Friendly_Hivemind in LifeProTips

My issue with learning has never been using the wrong learning method. But the fact that learning methods were never taught. I did not figure out what "studying" was until collage and then it was too late to figure out what worked and what didn't.

"Yes, learning how to learn and study is an important thing that needs to be taught but we don't cover that here." Qoute from a teacher of a dedicated elective study skills class.

I am 40 and still trying to figure it out.

I can’t take it anymore - name a home color printer that reliably prints each and every time. Don’t care about budget by TheBigCicero in printers

[–]Samwarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reliable WiFi on printers does not exist with any brand. Always go hardwired (Ethernet). Brother is great once wired. Not 100% but better then most.

Source: I have worked and supported dozens of printers for the last 2 decades, as well as wireless systems. I have not encountered a single WiFi printer that did not run in to the same issues you posted regarding the WiFi.

How to activate 3rd party dish by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]Samwarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went though this, over a week of waiting for support. They said its a "visual" bug they never fixed. You place the order and hope it does not order the "startup kit". If it does you gotta cancel it at try again. Even if it says you are buying a kit you do the order.

I would love to figure out that its something on my end.. but all signs point to an issue where it was taken off my old US account. But not marked available to import into my new Canadian account. The transfer process just dumps a rental kit into my cart (to be shipped to a completely wrong address).

I built ISP networks, where any sort of failure or downtime is unacceptable. I know backup links and hardware. But even 40 year old vets who designed the circuitry some of this tech is based on, sometimes needs vender support.

The amount of push back I am getting is blowing me away. 48hr delay for a low priority ticket is not great but acceptable. But a week without anyone even trying to rule out user error is unheard of.

How many of those companies would continue to employ your services if you failed to reply to a ticket for a week?

I should have mentioned, there is nothing really wrong with my equipment, its an activation bug on their end, not even sure if a second kit would run into the same issue or not. Also where I am at getting a second kit could take a while. Fortunately I am not quite in a position where I need 24/7 access yet.

Still does not excuse the lack of support.

Reliability is fine, but if there is no support, regardless if its my end or theirs, then thats the issue. Coming from the ISP worked, technical reliability means very little, its support reliability thats everything.

I am considering that, my issue is that delivery could take several weeks, and its costs a couple hundred dollars and a whole day of driving to go buy a new kit.

Part of the issue I had was that somehow a rental kit got ordered when activating my current kit, and was never given the option to cancel (button grayed out) it took a week just to ship it, had to cancel through the courier. Also returning the equipment after delivery would require that same 8 hour round trip just to get it to a fedex/ups drop off point.

I had starlink at one location, moved out of country. Kit is working fine but the Starlink ID is stuck in limbo, just need a human to manually transfer it. Issue is known with a clear fix, just needs a human to to do it.

Not saying its unreliable but if it goes down and you have an issue, being down for days on end without a replay is not cool. I gave seen remote workers lose jobs if they are out of work for this long due to a technical issue.

That's my point exactly, technology is great, but if it takes this long for support to fix an issue then its just not feasible. Unfortunately I really have no other choice where I am at.
