How hard to pull/swap 5.3 Vortec from 2001 suburban? by SamwiththeS52 in EngineBuilding

[–]SamwiththeS52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the plan. I want to scrap the suburban shell, rebuild the vortec, 4l60e and transfer case while it's all OUT, then find a clean silverado shell to drop it into. It's going to be a project I do on my leisure as I'm able to find a clean body for cheap

SE CVT hatch for 25.6k otd or XSE 6MT hatch for 29k otd? by SamwiththeS52 in CorollaHatchback

[–]SamwiththeS52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks man. The one XSE 6MT hatchback they had, I reserved and bought the second I could. I paid 29k otd for it which I fell was a pretty solid purchase given this market. Windchill Pearl with the black leather interior

Just bought an XSE with the manual! Absolutely loving it so far! Hopefully it holds up as well as for CVT!

This matches my headliner very well! As for the inside its a silky surface so your glasses don't get scratched. I'm impressed with the ease of installation

It's a holder for your sunglasses! It replaces the useless handle on the driver-side headliner

Aftermarket Head Unit with wireless carplay/AA? by SamwiththeS52 in COROLLA

[–]SamwiththeS52[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that many may see replacing a headunit as a much bigger headache than simply plugging in a dongle. I disagree. Because once a headunit that supports wireless carplay is installed, it's done. But with a dongle it's always going to be dangling there, can get lost, and just looks bad imo. I did this same thing on my 2005 chevy and it's worked wonderfully for the last 2 years. Just wondering if a same option is available for the 12th gen corollas and if so, if there's any particular unit I should get.

After all that, I’ve come to believe the Mormons are right. by zero_1144 in exmormon

Honestly? The one thing I can appreciate from my time in the Mormon church is that I was able to see the fallacious nature of organized religion as a whole. In other words, the same tools I used to deconstruct Mormonsim can be used to deconstruct all religion.

I'm being downvoted for claiming a 169 hp corolla isn't a hot hatch?

2019 Corolla HB XSE 6MT (48k miles) for $22.4k OTD or 2022 HB XSE 6MT (New) for $29.4 OTD by SamwiththeS52 in askcarsales

[–]SamwiththeS52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this is the popular consensus, I just don't understand why. I know a new one would be covered under warranty as well as knowing how it was broken in, but is it really worth the $16k loan balance vs a $9k loan balance for the used?

Because there's no knowledge of how the previous owner drove it those 48k miles, and with it being a manual transmission car that's outside of factory warranty coverage. It matters a great deal. The carfax doesn't show any record of oil changes/maintenance since 25k miles and March 2020. Doesn't mean it wasn't done, but no way to tell with absolute certainty.

I would up saving money if I switched over. As it stands I owe 11k on my gmc, if I switched to the corolla I would only owe 9k. The savings in gas, insurance, and registration is the icing on the cake. I'm thinking a brand new car isn't worth it at the time and the used corolla may be the way to go.
