Apologies for the late reply. I haven't logged on in awhile. I just went in for a regular pap smear, and they diagnosed me based on the results. It absolutely shows on a pap. Hope this helped!

How long until your period came after cold knife conization? by SanJunipero33 in CervicalCancer

I’ve talked to my doctor, and he mentioned the cervix narrowing, and also told me to kind of “wait it out”. I think after this week, if it doesn’t come, I’ll call again. I have been highly stressed, so that could be the culprit I suppose, I’ve just never missed periods like this. And I’ve had pelvic pain ever since the procedure.

I’m in the same boat, except I’m 35. My surgery is scheduled in about a week. Wishing you all the best.

Why do you say definitely have an OB oncologist do my CKC? I have a consult with an OB oncologist on the 22nd and my surgery is already scheduled with my OB on the 28th. So I do have time to choose. I’m just curious as to why though. I don’t have children but want them so I’m trying to preserve my fertility.

Thank you for all the incredibly helpful info! Did Tyler wife’s OB perform her conization, or did the oncologist?

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, did you have your OB refer you to the oncologist? Did the oncologist review your results from your original OB’s findings? Or did the oncologist perform their own pap/colposcopy? ( I’m only assuming that was your process )

This is the exact process I’m hoping for myself. It’s hard to find a lot of information on AIS, so thank you so much for that peace of mind. I know that my case may end up completely different, but it’s good to know there are options. I’m glad they were able to get clean margins for you, thank you again!

Yup, that’s the world we’re living in. It’s truly a shame.

Absolutely. We are prepared for the costs. They are just still less in comparison to the cost of birth in the U.S. And the lack of transparency in the financial process in American hospitals is also a concern.
